Note that NPC countries havenīt purchased anything this turn, just banking their income. That is because they will try to get some trade routes going which will be done via diplomacy, not in the update.
(Also I have spent 12 hours on implementing the changes AND doing the update and now have no will to think of any orders for some small country... )

to Pyrrhus :

Cease your threats to Rome or be crushed

And to Carthage :

One thing though. The Roman stats are inconsistent with my orders and with the updated picture. The legions are in akward places and my bowmen seem to have lost their way back to camp from the archery range

Donīt know what youīre talking about (Edited them in)
Sorry, I did Rome last, so it may have gotten a bit messy. You had a flaw in your accounting, though, as Legion IV got 600 foot soldiers (all the remaining ones) instead of the 400 you put in..

Also I have forgotten to take into account that you lost the Sicilian grain supply, which hampers your economic efficiency by 10%...
Just corrected it. I did include the loss in Magna Graecias stats, though...

You now need to look for a new supplier of food, like Egypt (or Carthage).
NPCs will present their offers tomorrow! (Though you can come up with something yourself).

Is any clarification needed about the new system?

With heavy hearts we came to realise that under the current circumstances and lates developments we are forced to declare war against you. We have always treated you respectfully and have never doubted your bravery and honour. Thus we ask that every city not wishing experience the horrors of war, surrender your arms and join us in a fight against this renegade general Pyrrhus.

This is your last and only chance to save yourselves and defend your honour in the eyes of the world. In respect to our common past we offer every city who peacefully joins us a full Roman citizenship and freedon from taxes for 10 years.

Anyone, who raises their sword against Romans will be crushed swiftly.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Rome to the friendly cities of Adria, Nicaea, Massilia and Emporion.

Greetings! I'm sure we all have been pretty stunned by the new developments by your Southern brothers. Unfortunately we have had no choice but to declare war on them. We are deeply concerned about the future security situation in Northern Italy now that we are forced to move some of our armies to South. Therefore we ask you to join us in the name of preserving peace and cooperation against the barbaric tribes who wait to fill the security vacuum once some of our legions leave the North.

We have always treated you respectfully and have never doubted your bravery and honour, thus we ask that every city not wishing experience the horrors of war to join us. Otherwise we have to consider you as a potential security threat and have to disarm you by force if necessary. From the bottom of our hearts we hope things wont get that serious.

This is your last and only chance to save yourselves and defend your honour in the eyes of the world. In respect to our common past we offer every city who peacefully joins us a full Roman citizenship and freedon from taxes for 20 years.

As always, anyone who raises their sword against Romans will be crushed swiftly.

Yours,

SPQR

Rome to Sparta.

Greetings! We are sure you have heard the news by now. We have been attacked by an army of bandits lead by a renegade Macedonian governer. This can be not just our but your finest hour. We invite you yo defend justice and order against bandits and anarchy. We ask you support because Pyrrhus' force is formidable enough to deserve you and us together as enemy.

We are willing to pay all your costs and 30 talents plus an equal share in the spoils of war in exhange for help from your Spartan elites as well as your fleet. We suggest we disable the Magna Graecian fleet in joint attack. Our fleets could band up near Rhegion and continue together to the Bay of Tarentum to defeat the Magna Graecian pirate fleet.

We would then assist in transporting the Spartan elites near Cannae where we would hope them to join our legion in the battle against the forces commanded by Pyrrhus. How does that sound?

Rome to Macedonia

What kind of game is this!? Do you take us for fools? First a Macedonian governer starts a campaign to enslave the peace loving Roman peasants, then you ask if we would like some more Macedonian forces into our country. If we wouldnt consider you as a nation of righteous and pure hearted people, we would consider that as a declaration of war!

But, because we are indeed still willing to believe that you had nothing to do with this no bloodshed is necessary. At the moment and given these unfortunate circumstances though we dont think our people have enough trust in any Macedonian to have them fighting alongside with us. Therefore we must decline from your offer to help us, furthermore we ask, no we demand that you must not interfere in this current cirisis.

Egypt to Carthage: Ya know, just cause you attacked me (and were repelled) doesn't mean you can send messages from Egypt...

Evil backstabbers! Pillagers and desecraters of the sacred! Consider our alliance terminated, and I hope your people revolt against your sacreligious ways!

Egypt to Rome: We are extremely interested in the export of grain and paper to you. Your offer of iron and fabric in exchange will be acceptable. You must come to Tanys to deal, we would very much like to send our ships to Rome to see the great city, but we have no ships to send. Please, come to Tanys to begin trade.

Egypt to Macedonia: We have noted that you have very little in terms of edibles; would you be interested in puchasing our grain now? We're open to offers of what you'd like to trade in return. We'd also like to point out that Macedonia has no source of paper, and the only other source of paper in the world is Carthage, who've proved themselves filthy backstabbing temple-desecraters. Paper would help increase your government's effeciency, and would surely help the renowned philosophers in Athens record their work for posterity.

We also appreciate your verbal support of us against Carthage; would it be possible for you to increase that to actual military or financial support? Anything will be appreciated, greater help gaining greater thanks. We suggest you consider a charitable donation to the Rebuild Egypt Fund, a charitable organization founded by Morgan Freeman in an effort to rebuild Egypt. We can assure you (and the pacifists among both our nations) that your donations will not go to military causes. We also remind you that your direct support of Egypt in the face of this religious atrocity might even improve your people's support of you.

Egypt to Persia:
We has also noticed a lack of a paper source among your domains. To you we'd like to propose a special deal: Paper for military protection. Agreed?

Egyptian Orders: Secret police are to hype up the recent victory against Carthage (I know it's really kind of a stalemate, but since Carthage was driven out, play it up as a victory to the people). The Pharoah is to make inspirational speeches citing the recent atrocities of Carthage, and generally spread pro-Pharaoh information about the event. Pharaoh is to decorate the general presiding over the battle for his military prowess in an effort to whip up military pride in serving in his army. Pharaoh is also to emphasize that Egypt wants peace, but that as long as violent agressive nations like Carthage are around, that may not be possible. Pharaoh will also commend the efforts of those not in the military, who've begun the rebuilding of Egypt's fertile Nile Delta.

OOC: Micha, awesome update! The resources are cool!

Macedonia to Athens :

We will give you 20 talents. This is fair.

Macedonia to Rome :

We are deeply insulted by your condemnation of us, especially considering our efforts to help you. For the sake of friendship, we will attribute your rashness to the heat of anger, and we hope you will soon realize your misjudgement and we can put this behind us.

Macedonia to Egypt

yes we'd like to buy paper. We can offer you wine or fish (or both if you can pay cash) We will contact you later about military matters

to Lydia:

We note you are lacking in adequate supplies of wine and fish, of which we have abundant quantities. Would you be interested in purchasing either of these ( probably not both)

to Persia:

We wish to purchase copper for 6 talents/turn. furs for 5 talents/turn. Spices 10 talents/turn.

OOC: Nuclear, quit posting as Egypt. It's obnoxious.

Micha, please have the Carthagian messenger executed and mail his head back to Carthage (Fourth class). Don't put it on a stick, Carthage can provide its own stick. Bastards.

IC: Egypt to Macedonia:
We'd like to begin the paper for fish trade route. We propose 5 talents\turn paper, and 5 talents\turn fish. This should keep our bookkeeping nice and simple.

Egypt to Rome: In the manner of our deal with Macedonia, why don't we say 8 talents\turn of iron, and 8 talents\turn grain? Similarly, how about 4 talents\turn fabric for 4 talents\turn paper? Makes everyone's income nice and consistant.

Egyptian Budget (Incomplete):
15 talents to the institution of a police and court system to help combat piracy and corruption in Egypt.
15 talents to build an infrastructure system in Egypt to help improve productivity.
20 talents for horsemen, to be added to the Pharaoh's army.
14 talents for swordsmen, to be added to the Pharaoh's army.
10 talents war chariots, to be added to Pharaoh's army.

Egypt to Carthage:
What joint strike? We did a solo defense. If you're offering us assistance, though, we'd gladly take anything you can give us. That goes for money, trade, troops, technology, even political influence in our favor with the Macedonian Government, whatever.
