Stop being so technical. City limits are just imaginary lines, which means Vegas is still the destination for legalized whoremongering.

you actually have to drive 60 miles for the legal stuff. Everything that goes on in Vegas is illegal. All those escorts don't actually do any escorting . Metro police does do busts on them of course. But that hasn't stopped them from spreading like weeds.

Didn't realize it was that far. I thought it was all of Clark County except the city (which, I guess, isn't completely incompatible with what you said). The fact remains, legal or not, Vegas is a good destination if one wants to do some whoremongering, especially in conjunction with playing craps and gorging on cheap buffets at 3 am.

Yes, but that is over 800 miles closer.

Also, note that the 59 hours was quoted by Greyhound... not I. Given that you didn't have to cross the Rockies, I can imagine that the average speed would've been a bit more.

And, please, answer Jimmy's question: Was it an awesome experience? In my experience, riding the bus is about the least comfortable, most irritating way to travel. I'd rather fly in a blizzard. I can't imagine a trip where even a retelling of a positive experience starts off with

Of course, the one important variable that is lacking here is knowledge of just how long Ben plans on taking this vacation.

A week or less and he'll be almost compelled to fly to Texas, as he won't have time to deal with surface transportation.

actually Texas isn't all bad I supposed. San Antonio might be decent, though I don't care for all the Alamo hoopla. And I hear good things about the Austin music scene.

all I know is the motel room I stayed in just north of Dallas had dead bugs in it. So I naturally assume all motels in Texas are like that.

I just wasn't impressed driving through the state. But I admit I didn't stop to look at anything.

I prefer natural bueaty to big citys. And specifically mountains (Texas has plenty of nice flat land and lakes). Alpine mountains, desert mountains, I love them all.

Imran:

What's easy isn't always the best thing to do. If I want to see the US, there are better ways to do that then to fly.

Another suggestion that has been thrown at me is to try the Amtrack. I could go from Seattle, to LA, to Dallas, or from Seattle, to Chicago to Dallas.

I'm also of the opinion that to really see the USA you have to take the bad with the good. Disneyland really doesn't serve you well.

Of course, if I get a week only, I will fly, no question about that.

that's a dream vacation for me .

I actually spent a few days at lake Tahoe. There's a lot of hiking to do in the area.

But if you are with a wife or whatever, you could always take midnight cruises on the lake. Or spend time in the hotels which should have most amenities.

I can care less about amenities.
