Curfew Laws
Curfews are established to help deter crime and keep youth from getting into unnecessary trouble. Although there are no specific state statutes, many local governments have established curfews. These laws pertains to minors under 18 years of age who are in a public place past a certain time. Exceptions to this law are instances where minors are returning home from employment (they need to obtain a note from their employer), and youth returning home from an event such as a concert, organized meeting, or any other appropriate activity that has continued past the curfew. To see if there is a curfew set in your area, contact your local sheriff's office.

It is unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to loiter or to aimlessly drive or ride about, on or about any street, avenue, highway, road, sidewalk, curb, gutter, parking lot, alley, vacant lot, park, playground, yard, building, place of amusement, or eating place, whether public or private, without the consent or permission of the owner or occupant thereof, during the hours ending at six o'clock (6:00) A.M. and beginning at twelve o'clock (12:00) midnight on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and beginning at ten o'clock (10:00) P.M. on Sunday night through Thursday night. No violation of this subsection will have occurred if the person under the age of eighteen (18) years is accompanied by a parent, guardian or other adult person over the age of twenty one (21) years who is authorized by a parent or guardian of the juvenile to take the parent's place in accompanying the juvenile for a designated period of time and purpose within a specified area.
It is unlawful for the parent, guardian, or other adult person having the care and custody of a juvenile under the age of eighteen (18) years to knowingly permit or allow the juvenile to loiter or to aimlessly drive or ride about at the places and within the time prohibited by subsection C2 of this section. The term "knowingly" includes knowledge which a parent should be reasonably expected to have concerning the whereabouts of a juvenile in that parent or guardian's custody. It shall be no defense that a parent, guardian, or other person having the care and custody of the juvenile was indifferent to the activities, conduct or whereabouts of the juvenile.

And how effective has it been in Colorado ? Somehow I don't connect Colorado and serious gang problems.

i think its done a good job in some ways controling things... gives cops reasons to detain and ask questions about activities .. though i think some cops use it to harrass .. but overall there has been a decline in that sort of activity... has not stopped it ..
gangs are everywhere... even in colorado...
we used to have long lines of cars downtown
friday and saturday nights.. kids honking and
sitting on cars... waving at each other drive by.
cruisin nevada ave... was a big passtime.
then came the night some young people were
shot ... just driving down the street ..
both killed... in a drive by shooting..
and another night one young man beat to death
laying in the street downtown...
couple those with other crimes and deaths...
drugs being sold out of cars and the downtown streets
and parks being a place where everyone was afraid to
go even in the early evenings.
downtown is quiet now...

boann : I think that you have cured the symptoms instead of the disease and in the process amputated peoples freedom.
If there are shootings, remove the guns instead of people. If there are drugs, go for the dealers.

I agree, but why punish those 99,9 % of parents and teens that acts sensibly ?
