Last semester I worked for the Massachusetts Public Research Interest Group, a grassroots environmental organization. We did that annoying stuff where we go up to random people on the street, tell them about environmental problems, and ask for money (yeah, I had it for about a week before I realized it was too annoying even for me.)
I went up to this one woman (really attractive, btw) and said my usual "Can I talk to you for a moment about the environment". She just smiles and responds that she didn't need to worry about the environment. She was a Jehovah's Witness, and gladly told me that God was going to take care of everything.
What can you say to that?...well, probably a lot, but I was working...

You forget that the real Christ isn't coming back to spread peace and love in an Aquarian, peacenik way, but to bring war and death and destruction. He will use his magical powers to destroy the unbelievers, and then all the Christians will be resurected and a thousand year riegn of peace will begin.
Unless you're a Dispensationalist, in which case the saved will be raptured into heave, at which point a seven year period of tribulations will begin, with Satan leading an army of darkness against the left-behind who realize the errors of their ways. Then Christ will return, and the forces of evil will be swept away, etc.
Either way, they expect Christ to se his God-powers to change the world. It doesn't matter what governments think since all governments are Earthly, and thus in league with the Devil (except for the current U.S. government, where the saintly George Bush is leading the righteous to struggle against Satan).
