I usually turn him into a pack mule. It also keeps him far from the battles so he can still buff and shoot but doesn't get killed so easily.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I don't particularly like bards, which swayed my decision. Just slightly, mind.
Can someone please explain to me how I can use poison on my swords? I've got the poison glands from the stingers, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way of combining them with my weapons.
Also, the manual should tell me how to do this, but my manual hasn't updated with the extras from SoU and HotU. I might open the discs on their own and have a nose for extra pages or new files, whatever.

My main character is a wizard. So naturally he's almost always encumbered. A major pain in ass, to say the least. I got myself a bag of holding thinking it would solve my problem. I found out that you can only put a limited number of things in these damn things! Talk about false advertisement!

Each class, if it can cast spells, has a set number of spells per level per day. It's then modified by this table. (It's 3.5e, but I think it's unchanged from straight 3e.)

http://www.systemreferencedocuments...age/basics.html

The minimum modifier you need to get one extra Nth-level spell slot is +N. You get an extra spell slot at that level for every extra +4 (for example, an Int 20 character, modifier +5, gets two extra first-level spells, while an Int 19 character, modifier of +4, gets just the one.)

As for wizards being encumbered: Hire a henchman and use him as a pack mule. Or chug potions of Bull's Strength.

I'm playing the original campaign, so it's impossible. The feature you're talking about is only available in the expansion packs.

Well the bull's strength potions are always available.
Or get yourself some gloves of ogre strength or whatever they're called. Actually, if you're that puny, then take Daelan as your henchman and if you finish his quest (does just keeping random items count as a quest? ) then he'll give you amulets with strength bonuses on them.
However, what I did in the OC (despite being far stronger than your character, you still can't carry everything at once) was to abuse the recall stone mercilessly. For a small fee to get back to where you were, you can flog loads of the items you have picked up but can't actually use to a shopkeeper with a half-decent reaction rating. You'll make a fortune!
If you're really stingy, then you can walk back to where you were, but I was too lazy.

Come on someone! Tell me how to poison my weapons, because I'm a pretty rubbish assassin at the moment.

Most of them

Elementals, golems and animals are mostly neutral, but the others are pretty much evil to the core.

Ok, to boost strength CHEAT

Open the console by pressing the ~ key.
Type DebugMode 1 (could be Debug Mode 1)
Open the console again and type SetSTR 18 (for example)
L-Click on your character
Open the console again and type DebugMode 0

Done.

Well I haven't got a flask of poison, just a poison gland. Presumably I'll need to process it in some way first. Who can I go to to get that done?

Tsk, tsk. Btw, my wizard as a strength of 10. I guess I'll use my bag of holding for the heavy stuff, like armor. (For 3000+ gold, you have to admit that it's a rip off.) Maybe I'll get one of those magic bags, but they don't seem very useful.

Ok so that's a large increase in int/charisma needed per slot. What are the advantages of high int/char (ignore skills) in terms of making your spells harder to resist?

Having a higher int or cha bonus increases the DC for saving throws against your spells. IIRC, the DC is 10+(spell level)+([int/wis/cha, as appropriate] bonus), so Wail of the Banshee (Fort save or die) cast by someone with 26 Int has a DC of 10+9+8=27. Spell Focus, etc., increases the DC, of course.

Outright spell resistance...

quote:

To affect a creature that has spell resistance, a spellcaster must make a caster level check (1d20 + caster level) at least equal to the creature’s spell resistance. (The defender’s spell resistance is like an Armor Class against magical attacks.) If the caster fails the check, the spell doesn’t affect the creature. The possessor does not have to do anything special to use spell resistance. The creature need not even be aware of the threat for its spell resistance to operate.

IOW, int/cha doesn't have anything to do with SR.

IIRC, you can buy different types of venom from some merchants, like maybe the tarot reading gypsy/halfling (I'm not sure--one or some merchants have it). Right click and point at weapon in inventory. Weapon should be poisoned.

Arggggh! I just lost my save game. Thanks to my brand new Radeon, my PC now crashes often. And now it crashed while I was saving my game. The save game is now corrupted and worthless. To make matters worst, if I use Firefox, it crashes everytime I go on the net. So not only I can't play games, but I have to use Internet explorer.
