I recommend sending the southern settler south one more space. It looks like there may be floodplain down there (as well as trees) and if we settle in the current spot 'he ain't gonna get big very fast'...

Reasoning: if trees (most likely given the mountains and what they are showing) then we get a huge shield boost that would permit a grainary or temple (grainary if no floodplains near, temple if floodplains are just out of reach). If we do find floodplains, then irrigating them gives 3 fpt.

One more thing...there are definately flood plains near our scout...do we want to wait on the 3rd city (since the 2nd one should cover our unit maintenance) and send the settler to the east?

The third settler one tile south so that the city will have a river nearby.

This sounds like a good plan. We should aim to put our explorers (scouts and warriors) on mountains.

So, first move scout 4, 2. Then, we assess the situation. Our third settler should either settle the land to the south, or the land to the east. There is another river there with floodplains and at least one oasis. Our warrior near the capital should be able to explore what that river looks like.

However, bear in mind that we want our cities bunched up, so the position on that hill is still ideal for a city. It need not be this settler that will build that particular city, but a future settler will, so we need to plan the movement of our third settler in view of that.

Yes, the hill to the east does certainly look very promising. It's on the river with floodplains and wheat which would guaratee a pump of some kind (settler or worker). I say either settle at once or move there. I'm for settling at once.

The southern river isn't the best but it's not bad either - a nice addition to our imperium. Also, it is surrounded by mountain ranges which undoubtedly keep iron deposits hidden.

Yep, settle at once.

Just noticed the hill 3336 of K. Looks very sweet indeed, river, floodplain and wheat

Ah well, something for later.

On the second thought, the eastern hill is too good to skip. Send the settler there and when the two workers finish their job get them to connect and work the tiles around that eastern city.

Which Hill to the East? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

To settle in the Red zone will take 4 turns....

To settle in the Pink zone will take 3 turns...

Or we stay where we are and settle this turn as discussed several times

This is a small map, I say settle here and get growing asap

Tired of ads?

The red one. It's beautiful.

Or we can settle where we stand. I can't decide.

The red city is the best spot for the future though. And our militia is near.

So Ljube and I had a discussion on the matter (please do not mind my typo's)

addy says:
http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...threadid=129457
Paddy says:
can ya look to the new pic
Paddy says:
please
Ljube says:
I can't decide between red spot and settle immediately
Paddy says:
but so far to travel
Paddy says:
yes indeed
Ljube says:
what do you think?
Paddy says:
I feel we should settlew
Paddy says:
we have moved here
Ljube says:
the red spot will guarntee a settler factory
Paddy says:
and we are keeping a good strong defens=ive growth then
Paddy says:
yes it will
Paddy says:
but at least 4 more turns to get there
Paddy says:
abnd then to start pumping settlers
Paddy says:
dilemma
Ljube says:
difficult one
Paddy says:
indeed
Ljube says:
how long before we can have another setler in our cap?
Paddy says:
tatu 15 - karakorun in 9, but the city grows to two in 9, so a few turns there after
Paddy says:
if we settle in this spot I do not know
Ljube says:
OK, settle there at once
Paddy says:
ok, done
Ljube says:
the other city won't be irrigated and mined for some time
Paddy says:
indeed
Paddy says:
I will post this discussion - ok
Ljube says:
we need to improve it before it would become a settler fact
Ljube says:
ok

and thus we settled there

and Kazan was founded, and the turn completed
