Diplomatic contact with Morgans Get a bigger avatar today!

Greetings From the Corporation
Hello Illuminatus

It is good to meet you.

I will need to log off shortly for the evening but will log on again tomorrow. The Corporation is very pleased to make your acquantince and would be happy to work with you in matters of that would be mutually beneficial.

Please let us know how we can be of assistance?

Mead

PS

I would give a more lengthy greeting, but it is very late for me right now (I'm tired) and I wanted to give you a heads as soon as possible so we can discuss business tomorrow before I have to post the turn. (i.e. what would you like from us and what would you like to offer in return)

I got this from Mead. Seem Spartans met you. I informed him that I no longer actively participate in the faction and that he redirects future messages through CT, the most active faction member. Since I am posting here, some tips: ask Morgans how they got your frequency - probably bought it from Hive. Ouro, CT, Bin, diplomatic forum on Eventis is back online - why is no one using it?
If you need another diplomatic forum to be created on Eventis for Morgans, let me know. Things to do with Morgans - inquire about war with Sparta, about their techs and willingness to trade, and find if they have Angel frequency too. In any case by having now contact with Morgans you have gained significant leverage in dealing with Spartans. They may now threat you but now they can fear credits and techs coming from Morgan. You could also ask Morgans to persuade Yang to forge truce with you - that would probably scare Spartans.

Will be using eventis, last time I checked it was somewhat slow (404 error), since then been overly busy.

For first we should know maybe they lack some tech (would you check it CT please?)

And I'd like to ask Ouro to compile the answer message according to Illuminatus' points.

I don't want to rush you, although we are concerned that th Spartans are running away with the game and it may be too late to stop them already, but if you prefer we can discuss tech trades later.

I have finished playing the turn and posted it in the intenal Morgan forum. Because I have to go away for the weekend, I will no be able to post it in the turn playe thread.

I asked #endgme to review the turn, send a treaty to you preaccepted, and post the turn in the turnplayer thread.

I propose that you accept the treaty while we discuss possible tech trades in the future.

Truth and propaganda together. Of course, if they reveal to us provably-accurate intelligence on the Spartans, all the better.

For what it's worth, we have no tech that they don't.

I also ask you to send us a Pact back to us.

Sounds like the Morganites are really eager to get on our good side. However, until recently, it looked like the Morganites were going to blow us away. It would be unwise to associate so strongly with a contender for the lead at this point. Besides, we shouldn't be dragged into another war.

Morgan is fiercely clamoring for our support:

We can try to hold on for a while, but it looks like Sparta may have truly run away with the game. From what we can see they have eaten Uni, are gobbling the Hive, and have devastated Morgan. I am not sure if they are going for Gaia or DA next. They had a transport full of Elite Impact rovers in the seas near DA, but also share the same sea as Gaia.

I still propose the Pact, although it my ability to partake in the game, as well as the the Morgan's ability to survive may be limited.

BTW they have missiles and may now have DAP.

Since I haven't had a chance to look at recent turns, what exactly did transpire? I got a taste of it from reading the 'papers'... something about Sparta raiding Morgan. I do understand that Sparta is starting to get on a roll, somthing very hard to stop in any strategy game. What is their total military strength now? What would the strength of a pact between our factions be?

We don't know just how strong they are militarily, but they're strong enough to take the Morganite capital, though not strong enough to hold it. A pact between us and them wouldn't be worth much to them, I'd expect.

I'll try to get you a full intel brief by the next time you play your turn. I'm seeing whether someone can build it with screenshots. I'm going to be very busy the next few weeks but I'll see what I can get done.

Destruction of Morgan Industries:

Two turns ago, my first as turnplayer, I discovered a Spartan commando cruiser off our coasts with four impact Elite Rovers on it. Escorting the transposrt was a 30% damaged commando missile cruiser (6)-2-6. Both had the MCC movement bonus.

I had a plasma laserboat in the fungus between our shores and the spartan ships. I lined the coastline with any unit I could find to deny a landing place. I plugged up roads to Morgan industry. I upgraded as many units as I could to plasma. I even brought a couple of formers into Morgan industries to serve as back up defenders. I would have brought more if I could. No more were in range to bolstor the defenses.

I knew with the MCC tech they also had amphibious, but I didn't think they would be able to upgrade all of them (via the design workshop).

What they did was blow the plasma boat out of the way and move the cruiser in. They upgraded all their impact rovers to gatling amphibious rovers (in the design workshop), and punched their way though our defenses. They took Morgan Industries (with the PTS) and got a boost in pop in all their bases to at least 3 pop. Then they obliterated the base and destroyed all the rovers that could not make it back to the transport.
They are Dangerous.
They are running Funde. With Funde, their 'Spartan' morale bonus, and the MCC almost every Spartan ship you see will be at least Commando. With +2 MCC movement points their cruisers can travel 8 spaces.

With Funde, the Command Nexus, their 'Spartan' morale bonus, and a monolith upgrade almost every Spartan land unit you see will be Elite. With Elite their rovers can travel three spaces, and multible attack.

They have substantial size and we don't know if we will last more than 4 more turns.

Let me know if there is addtional info you need.

Mead

After checking population records, the Spartans did not receive a sudden boost from the PTS that would indicate their bases grew to size 3. Thus, either capturing the PTS doesn't boost base sizes, or almost all of their bases were already size 3 or greater.

Since the Morganites can probably already construct our map based on the F4 screen, we might want to give them our world map and have them update it with everything they know.

Well, if it is so as he said, that he used multiple upgraded formers and other defense, it's quite clear that Spartans have no problem to defeat Morgan.

But I seriously doubt Mead is telling us truth.

Just take a look at this analysis:

4 elite rovers = 4 * 3 = 12 moves
1 move for obliterating a base

so 11 moves left

Let's assume Morgan Industries is 1 move away from the coast and that the first rover was used to:
1.clear base (1 move)
2.take base (1 move)
3.clear the road (1move)

so 3 rovers left.

1 rover used to:
1/3 move the free road square
1 to kill roadblock
1/3 move the next road square
1 to kill roadblock
1/3 to kill a unit having ZOC

so 2 rovers left

1 rover used to:
move to capital (1move)
kill defender(1move)
kill one former(1move)

last rover used to:
move to capital(1move)
take it (1/3 move)
obliterate base(1move)

total: 7-8 Morganic units lost.

I think we should make up a trap for Mead.

CT, could you please ask him how many units did Morgan lose (and compare it to losses listed at F7 screen)?

Let me see.

There were four Spartan Rovers.

Without reviewing the old saves I know they took out:

1 plasma rover;
1 crawler;
1 synth rover;
2 formers.

I think they also took out 1 or 2 probes that were on the road in their way plus another former whose ZOC interfered with their progress. The probes were not together and were not with any other unit (they each required an individual attack).

Plus, Morgan Industries was 3 squares away from the sea. There was a road between it and the sea. I should have tore the road up.

They cut through us like a hot knife through butter. Now, instead of gatling rovers they have missile rovers.

So

2 rovers
3 formers
1 crawler
2 probes

total: 8

I think we can believe this.

Put an end to popups!

As a result of the deal, we'd receive one tech of immediate important (EnvEco), and two techs of middling importance, one from the Morganites and one from normal research. The Morganites would receive one tech. We'd be in their debt, given the tech counts, though this may be inevitable.

SotHB is relatively low-level. EnvEco... well, yeah, that is fairly important. They recieve one for our two that they give us. However, if I remember right, Neural is a level 5, and EnvEco is 4. I think. So it kind of evens out. And they didn't mention anything about us being a tech in their debt, so maybe that's the way they saw it... never hurts to be optomistic
