While I'm not a big fan of text messaging, my teenage daughter would be proof that the US isn't behind anybody when it comes to usage. I don't even want to begin to guess how many she sends and receives a day.
(she has also mentioned how great they are when she is in class )

Here, it seems more age related when it comes to usage. It's big here, but not amoung the older age brackets

Wikipedia puts the latest figures at 60% of the US having a mobile phone. Astonishingly low compared to the numbers encountered Europe and Asia (80% and up in the general population.)
