	SL Forum Recovery Update Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

If you have been following the Apolyton/Community and Civ2 forums you will know that on April 14th, the Scenario League forum was accidently deleted during a maintaince procedure.

Due to the deficiency of our backup system (partially caused by the fact that Apolyton's data currently exceeds 20GB) we are able to recover only posts up to a month ago and attachments of up to 3 months ago.

The recovery should be finished in 2 days time.

After the recovery, post counts will be recalculated to include the re-added posts. After that, anyone wanting to further correct his post count should use the support system http://apolyton.net/about/contact.php

Until the recovery, cache of the most recent threads is availiable

Does that mean the posts in the cache won't be recovered?

the cached posts will be a separate process. they'll probably be copied to a directory. it's too much effort to insert them in

i've succesfully separated from the backups the data for 17k of posts along with the related thread and attachment info. now i'll need to do a script to take a copy of only the needed attachments from the attachments backup and then i'll just need to instert the data and copy the files....

So, where do we stand concerning the backups? It isn't bothering me that much (yet) but it would be helpful if we could access some of the old SL threads.

I don't care about the post count. Titles are cute, but not really useful.

What I DO care about are a number of the threads, especially the graphics threads. There were a lot of graphics in those threads by a host of talented artists. I copied from those threads regularly.

Then, computer problems of my own.

When I resurface, the discovery of problems here at acs too.

Tragic piece of bad luck/coincidence. Dammit.

If my input here is valued, the suggestion is to get at those threads in particular, if possible. They held much of the resources of our community.
