Chapter 5
Pylkka had been leading a reign of terror across the galaxy, and the forces of the military and the church were determined to restore order. As Ken Banobi said, "No human is above the will of JEBUS". General Ordin wasn't such a big fan of JEBUS, but he was happy to lend his shiny new laserdreadnaughts to the all-laser fleet that the two sent to Pylkka's homebases.
Pylkka had anticipated something of the sort, and he had hurriedly had to rebuild a fleet from scratch, concentrating on torpedoes. If he'd wanted to flee it would have made no difference anyway. A spy sent by Ken Banobi had destroyed his communications sats.
As the allied fleet manouvered into position, spreading out, Pylkka launched every torpedo tube. Against Banobi's and Ordin's dispersed ships there was almost no effect, only a few of the smaller vessels unlucky enough to be vaporised into nuclear flowers.
Pylkka commanded his fleet into a desperate manouvre of his own. Surely the überhumans could not lose! But now the lasers of the allies had found the optimum firing solutions and opened up. It took just moments for Pylkka's entire fleet to be lasered into shrapnel, but even in their deaththroes the überhumans completed one final manourvre and bravely launched every last torpedo in a desperate attempt to take some of the allies with them to their graves.
It was not to be. General Ordin's many years of millitary experience had taught him to show no mercy. Over-riding Banobi's plea for compassion he ordered the lasers to keep firing untill every last battery was depleted. Only three torpedos made it through the barrage of laser fire, and detonated harmlessly. Pylkka's empire was no more.

On a serious note, I think that in the future, if orders aren't in by start, NO orders are accepted, including defensive OOBs. Knowing you're under attack, and particularly with several overlords subtracted from the mix, could easily affect the OOB you give - and that's really not fair to those of us who send in orders on time ...
And it's not like there weren't 3 days ffs ... |
Yes, there wasn't a perfect way to resolve it without someone getting it in the ass. Really, Herc should have sent on time. As a result he has lost his entire fleet, and his ally (deleted) has wasted a turn. Ok, Tassi is probably a bit miffed that he didn't get an auto-win by attacking someone who had sent no defensive OoB, but Herc would be equally miffed at being autodestroyed when he actually beat the update post by a few seconds. I made a GM call, knowing someone would get the sharp end of the stick. Either way a palyer would be eliminated. I opted to run the combat, and let battle resolve the problem. I'm glad I did. Tassi goes out in true style in GO's first double lazorgeddon death

You know me - I'll not tolerate random elements. I better restate this in case people are unclear - no OoB or an illegal OoB means auto defeat.

I thought that if you say "I will attack Player X, allied with Player A" and Player A doesn't show, it's called "you're screwed" and your attack goes through anyway, but by yourself. More than one player in the past has done this on purpose (being player A) and screwed someone thereby (:weasel: ) ... |
Aaagh, forgot to mention this! Yes, I had some illegal orders this round from player X! They didn't send an OoB for an allied attack, but posted some vague nonsense about "using the same OoB as player Y" Sorry, but this isn't gonna hang with me. Send your OoB. What if one of you gets spied? What if one of you is backstabbing? Always send an OoB, and always send a defensive OoB too, unless you are shielding, you never know when you might get spied or backstabbed.
Thanks for reminding me Snoops Someone got lucky that their lack of precise orders were not taken advantage of.
