Among others in this thread, the Leia Mother Knowledge argument has to be one of the most pathetic ever to grace the internet.

It's a story.

In ANH, Vader's lightsabering was creaky and nothing like Anakin in RotS. Though there was compensation in increased power in the Force, but that's 20 years of learning there.

ANH?

Oh, you mean Star Wars.

Let's not forget that Guinness and Prowse actually had to fight with sticks. And that Prowse had to take it easy because he really was fighting an old man. And also that the sticks themselves were fragile and easily broken.

Backstory on the making of the movie isn't canon.

My favourite one was the one about how the Imperial troops managed to get onto Hoth if it was supposed to be shielded.

Suffering from ads?

I'm a little surprised revisionist Lucas didn't completely redo the lame lightsabre fight in ANH now that it is so totally outclassed by all of the later fight scenes. Could it be that for once he realised that erasing portions of the public's cherished childhood movies is evil? .....naw

You know, Ob-Wan sure doesn't look fifty in ROTS. Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru look pretty spry, as well, not to mention Yoda...

Tired of ads?

I think they were going for a 50ish look for Obi-Wan in ROTS... but they couldn't quite pull it off. Beru and Owen DO look 30, at best. Surely they had some makeup to make those actors look older?

wan't ob-wan in his mid 20's in tPM, maybe 40 in AotC, in his mid 40's in RotS, and in his early 60's in ANH?

What'd ya know, Guiness was in his early 60s at the time of ANH... he looked older than that. So I guess that Obi-Wan's aging could have worked.

Though Beru and Owen have some explaining (their actors were around 60ish at the time of the first movie) .

What about Yoda? He went from spry to dead in 20 years, which is nothing for someone who is over 800 years old.

Yoda was only spry when he used the force, and unlike Annikin he only used the force when he had a 'good' reason. So he hobbled around with a cane... and was 20 years from death.

My question is how did they bring him back to life to do the last three flicks?

In the AotD Yoda did use the force to pick up his cane after his big fight sceen. I thought that was a bit out of character...

Wasn't it just a deflector shield? I took that to mean it could stop blaster bolts and the like, but not slow moving troops and AT-ATs.

As I understood it, it was a normal shield, but it wasn't a dome like in Ep. I, just a big flat plate protecting from orbital bombardment.

I also didn't get the part at the end about Yoda telling Obi-Wan that he had found a way to make contact with Qui-Gon's spirit.

What kind of significance does that have that it should be one of the very last things Yoda says in the movie, especially considering the range of very important events that had just taken place?

If it was just in reference to Qui-Gon's voice allegedly appearing in one scene in Ep. II AotC, then I think it was idiotic to include Yoda's mentioning and trying to "explain" it. Qui-Gon's voice appearance wasn't even picked up by most people, and even then, it was insignificant IMO.

In general, I think RotS tries too hard to be a "filler" episode explaining things in the other films. It kind of gives the impression of having been made not as a movie in its own right, just a link between the others, and that's a shame I think.

It provides explination as to why Obi-Wan can still converse with Luke after he dies in the original trilogy.

I figure this was Yoda thinking that soon all the jedi would be dead and the only way to guide new learners to the path of a jedi would be from beyond the grave.

Hm, maybe that's it Geronimo. It still seems a little "thin" to me.

As for explaining how Obi-Wan could give advice to Luke, nah. That never required explanation I think. It was readily accepted as part of the way of the force by all who saw the original movies.
