And yet people continue to say violent games and tv have no effect on children.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be violent video games (I love em'), just that children should not have access to violent materials. Although I'm willing to say tv and movies are more a problem than video games.

I don't. Anyone who could do that at his age is a psychopath, and no amount of proper parenting is capable of fixing that.

My Nephew is 5, and he has a bit of a mean streak in him because his parents let him watch wrestling and power rangers, and has been doing so since he was 2.

The other day I was visiting and I was putting on my shoes as I sat next to his mom (my sis) and her husband. The little punk comes up to me as I am tieing and gives me a face rake and starts laughing. I say, "Andrew, don't do that, wait until I have my shoes on", because I don't mind rough housing, just not when my hands aren't free. The little punk does it again, and I tell him no and give him a swat on the butt... he laughs.

I continue tieing and he jumps on me, I grab him and throw/roll him onto the floor. He gets up and starts crying. My brother-in-law goes "Uncle Jon, what did you do that for?" in a voice like he was talking to his son.

I said "because some needs to raise your kids since you aren't bothering to" and I got up and left the room.

I swear, they can't even repremand their kid! If it's not for the ******* uncle I fear that kid may be in jail by 12.

I don't know... I haven't read the article yet. When I was 7 or 8, my brother (who was about 4/5 at the time) and I were playing with a couple of toy fighter planes, when he got in a tantrum and rammed his F16 into my head. It *could* have killed me, just like any head impact, but it was just childs play that got out of hand... all kids do it. I don't know if the case in this thread was something more sinister and prolonged though.

it wasn't just the 2 X 4, but the fact that he started with his fists, then moved on to his feet. And then decided to get a 2 X 4 to finish the job.

It's not like he started with the 2 X 4, and only afterwords didn't realize how powerful such a weapon was. He went to the 2 X 4 because his fists and feet weren't powerful enough.

to me, it shows an escalation of violence. it's not like he swung the 2 X 4 and then realized what a terrible thing he done, and didn't realize how much damage it would do.

I can see losing your temper, kids do it all the time. I could almost see a kid hitting his sister with his fists in a fit of rage.

But at least in my case, when I'm blinded by rage, I don't think to grab other weapons. In the kids case, he had a moment to stop and find another weapon to use. Most people would stop at that point, not find other weapons.

BTW, since there is no mention of videogames anywhere in the article, and there isn't even a hint that this 7-year-old even watched TV, Diss gets a stunning .5/10 for his rather pointless troll.

Although he really believes that humans are born without violent tendencies, while "violence" is inherent in all territorial creatures.
