Actually that screenshot I posted was from a Battlefield site somewhere.
Have you tried the higher settings? I would figure with that 9800Pro that you would be just fine at the higher detail settings.
I've got XP2600+ and 1GB RAM
I've got an NVidia 6800 card on its way in the mail, right now I've got a lower end 5500 card.
Before I tuned my BIOS, I was running the XP2600 at only 1 GHz speed, and it ran the low settings with absolutley no problem. My front side bus and memory were also running at 100Mhz speed, instead of 133, so that also helps out, it's made a slight difference in the game speed.
When my new card gets here, I'm going to experiment with the higher settings.
I got banned from a server for teamkilling.
I swear, somehow there was a player that was wearing my team's uniform but it kept showing his name as being red. So I shot him but still got penalized. This happened several times, and wasn't a mistake. I know in the older Desert Combat mod you could pick up the other team's weapons and you would wear their helmet, so it made it confusing. I never liked that option.
The ironic thing is I hate teamkillers, and I usually play medic, and go out of my way to revive other players when I can, even if I get killed doing it.

My proc atm is the bottleneck but I don't have the money to upgrade, nor do I really want to.
All those vehicles btw, is one of the reasons I don't care too much for BF...I like infantry games myself.
It's a pity no-one here wants to play America's army. |
I personally play infantry the whole time, but I like the vehicles because of the depth of gameplay it adds, though I can't stand driving/flying them.
I do know that if your team doesn't have a good fighter pilot, you will get SMOKED. If you can't get helicopters down, they will make your life miserable.
About your card, it looks like EA Games is totally pimping NVidia for this game, so the NVidia cards have been optimized for it. Kindof silly, in my opinion.
We should be able to pick the best cards based off of innovation, not who can make the best backroom deal.

Also playing this beast here, although only a bit, an hour at a time maybe . Fast-paced and fun. Defibrelators don't always work as they should. But it's a really fun game, keeps that good "war feeling" from BF1942, all those copters flying overhead... only problem is, many technical issues. Horrible server browser, the occasional crash, but everyone has already complained about that.
After all, it's an EA game, I'd never expect those aresholes to be decent. Word is, Dice nearly had implemented another fun game mode (Supply lines), but EA hurried the game.
