The weekend has come and gone, and no restoration of our threads. Personally, I'm getting very frustrated at the lack of progress. We get promises and assurances, but no action.

This forum represents the sum of our community's efforts over a number of years, including graphics, advice, scenarios - even sounds. It's deletion was a shock, and no real explanation has yet been given.

I urge SL members, supporters and former members to go to the Apolyton community thread on this issue and let the management know clearly that we want our forum restored without further delay. Thank you. http://apolyton.net/forums/showthre...threadid=132298

. . . but the last time I ventured to complain in the community forum, a pack of boot-lickers jumped on my complaint and seemed to think that somehow I was in wrong for daring to say anything. Like a bunch of monkeys hurling their defecation. Markos doesn't really have to do anything, especially if he's got a cabal of toadies ready to leap to his defense no-matter-what.

I don't go to any forums on this site other than this one now.

Btw, Brian, just in case this post seems, um, negative (lol) let it be known that I'm on your side. We've lost out, and it seems that that's that. (I've always wanted to use that word 3 times consecutively and be grammatically correct.)

I agree with you both. Especially as the post count regeneration thread was just closed down today it seems that many are dead set against us making our displeasures known in public.

MarkG is the one you need to talk to, and you can find him in the community forum. More specifically the thread techumseh already linked to earlier.

I don't know what you were complaining about, but you're wrong about the community forum, Phenix. I do visit it regularly. Things just go... differently. I guess the people there have just grown accustomed to the way things happen. There definitely aren't any boot-lickers.

If you don't want to go to the community forum, fine, but all you'll be doing here is preaching to the converted.

... Don't make me have to close this thread either please.

I disagree, Merc. My own experience IS otherwise. I'm not going to debate this--I KNOW it's the case.

There sure ARE bootlickers there. Their motivation is pretty obvious, though. Mostly OTers who are trying, as hard as they can, to ingratiate themselves with the site managers. This isn't an unusual thing. Haven't you seen the Flame Warriors' site? Markos, et al., are the "Royalty," and these other people are the various combinations of some of the other, less savory types. I think the "little dog" sums it up nicely.

I'd post the url, but it's easier to just do a google search with the phrase "Flame Warriors." In case some of you folks haven't seen it yet, it's hilarious. Take a look.

Just came from there. There are a few new warriors, but the real entertainment is in their own forums.

We're all admonished about viewing others through the lens of stereotyping, but from what I've seen on the net, these guys have it DOWN.

And I retract something now. I think the snarling monkeys are the perfect characterization of what I ran into last time I ventured into the community forum on this site.

And yes, the juvenille obsession with increasing one's post count is very likely a big part of the motivation for such pointlessness (ever since the OT doesn't count posts.)

I'm surprised that you'd even consider closing this thread. I think it's clear - post on the thread over at Apolyton Community to express your displeasure to the administration, post here to communicate with your fellow SLers about what we should do about this as a group.

Let's remember, Scenario League is autonomous from Apolyton. They host us, but we make our own decisions. We can either stand up for ourselves or continue to be ignored. Let 'em hear it!

I think that it is most unfortunate that the post count regeneration thread has been closed temporarily and that there is a possibility that this thread may be closed. Although neither thread has or will hasten restoration by a millisecond, both have performed an invaluable service for SL members.

They have been safety valves: muchly needed places where frustrated individuals, who have been getting both little and incorrect information from Apolyton, have been able to let off a bit of steam, share their frustrations and post some gallows humour for their peers.

Well I would like to think they wouldn't shut down a thread for simply reflecting the views and thoughts of a large portion of this community. I am disapointed that this has happened once already today and I should like to think that ill advised decision will be reversed.

I fail to see how the threat of closing down a thread such as this will quell disent. Each person who has posted on this thread is a respected member of the community who has done his or her share of contributing.

I think we have earned the right to complain, gripe, and be humorously sarcastic. It should also be noted that to date each poster has been very respectfull and kept they're posts clean.

Clearly my decision shouldn't affect this whole thing more than the actual issue.

So carry on then, just keep it decent and don't use it as an excuse to spam... But then I don't think I have to tell you that.

Curt, (or should I say Ciaran?) there was a point a few years back whenever I'd encounter a flame, I'd just post a link to the particular type of flame warrior they were and not say another word.

Didn't work in the ACS community forum, though. I recall posting the dung-hurling pithicines . . . and some OTer chimed in claiming that he'd RATHER fling poo then listen to my complaints.

Do you mean that as a bad thing? If so, it was just an idea techumseh. Believe when I say I want the admin follow through on its responsibilities every bit as much as you do.

I would hate to see the admit use that single post as a justification of ignoring this problem.... I'm sure that won't be the case, as least I hope not .
