	Communist Revolution in Canada? Remove this text

I live in a poorer part of town. Not by choice, but because the neighborhood has gone downhill over the years.

I was walking the dog yesterday and I saw posters all along the street with this URL

I'm used to the regular Communist party trying to get votes from the poorer parts of the city, but a militant revolution? Kinda gave me goosebumps.

Is this kind of recruitment even allowed in Canada?

Yes. Unless they are killing and destroying or look serious enough to be about to, they should be left alone.

I am certainly not affiliated with this group or indeed any political party other than the CPA.

It smacks a bit of sedition. They take great pains to avoid it, but in the end that is what you are left with.

And no, that sort of thing is not legal in Canada.

I'm not sure what these loons think they are going to accomplish, but I'm sure they will be allowed to be loons so long as they are no real threat.

It can also be paranoia. Lunatic fringe groups are often paranoid. And paranoia can even strike more "mainstream" groups that are still far from the centre (although not as strongly as the real loonies)

My group is not lunatic fringe (it actually belongs to the mainstream of French politics, athough it's on the border between mainstream and fringe), but it's cautious already, and it occasionally believes that some very undemocratic things are done by our institutions (surveillance of political activists, media manipulation, and occasional scare about electoral cheats - which generally prove at least partially true).

If you go further left than my group, you'll find people who are incrasingly paranoid. Sometimes it's justified. Some other times, it's not.

Can someone explain the whole Eurocom, "Christian Democrats" thing to me? I normally look at Europe as a secular place, where religion isn't looked upon for leadership. Is this name just a leftover from the old days? Or is there an actual Christian influence in this group?

it depends on the country
some still are quite religious, but in pretty much every instance it's not a decisive factor. In general those parties represent the conservative citizen that want things to stay the way they are.
christian values influence these parties, but then again, those values are mostly universal values anyway so that doesn't make it very exclusive

in belgium at least they might as well delete the christian bit of their party name, but for the sake of history it is kept. I can imagine though, in x number of years that it might disappear altogether

The thing is, though, that's a relic of the british monarchy. While the USA, on the otherhand, was founded in direct oposition to that monarchy and the idea that a country's leader is apointed by god.
