Moving to other themes, do you think Blair is going to take some heat because of this attack or do you see people rallying more around him?
Has the IRA done anything this big before or is this the first for London?
Political standings aside, I can imagine it must be a terrible thing to happen. For what it's worth I don't think it will have continuance though at least on the short term. But I do see some change in the way policy is handled in Britain in regard to some things.

In terms of loss of life, it's the biggest terrorist bombing on British soil. I don't think there will be any real gain or loss for Blair, to be honest.

I don't think Blair will be blamed too much. I certainly don't blame him. Only time will tell though.

The IRA never killed this many people in London in one attack.

This is truly awful... These random acts of mass murder strikes at every level in society. The terrorists don´t care who they blow up. It´s utterly despicable and I hope the perps will be caught and tried to the fullest extent of the law.

It depends of course of the polls you look at, the wahington post selects his sources. There wasnt a "comfortable" advantage but yes, i disaagree with Niessuh here. PP (Aznar´s group) would have won surely. The people were a bit angry yet because some previous governement lies and other "athrocities" that year (yak-42 accident or Prestige oil tanker among others) but the good economics was an important pilar. 11M changed the balance.

The 11M slaughter and its consecuences (Aznar lies) was important for the elections, mostly not becuase people changed his mind but because left-wing people that normally doesnt go to vote was so angry with Aznar that they voted that time to crush him.

In a perverse sort of way, I'm almost glad it's us that's been hit (assuming these things are almost inevitable- and right now I feel like they are). It's seemed inevitable for years, and I couldn't help feeling a sense of something close to guilt when the US, Spain and Bali got hit while we didn't. It felt like we were getting away with something.

In some ways, it feels like we're more closely united now. Almost as if we've taken a bullet that might have hit some other place.

That doesn't stop me wishing it hadn't happened though.
