The problem is that the Wings were separated from all their traditional rivals when the new East-West setup took hold and the schedules were more weighted towards conferences and divisions. So we saw much less of the Rangers, Bruins, Canadiens, and especially the Leafs. Leafs-Wings was BIG. HUGE.

Yeah, we still have Chicago. But come on. They hardly count as a hockey team anymore.

Plenty of other fans could say all of their rivalry games were like a war. I can say the same about the Devils and Flyers. At least in the Devils-Flyers rivalry both teams have gotten deep in the playoffs in the last 5 seasons .

In overtime in 7 games against a team that went all the way to the stanley cup? I'd say they were one of the top teams, and they did much better then many of the other teams that were supposed to be better than Calgary.

And they were missing their highest paid player too. Take away Iginla, and see how well them Flames do.

Hahaha, while Toronto will probably do something silly like that, I disagree with them having a chance to create a great team. They're too close to the cap. I suppose they could try a bunch of buyouts, but with what they're starting with, they won't be in cup contention this year. Thats my bet.
