Let the Good Times Roll!
Economic Takeoff in Iron Gate!
After ten years of rapid construction, the housing shortage was declared to be officially solved. Now that everyone had a place to live, it was time to provide some jobs.
Consultants from MingDanS Inc., a multinational finance and media conglomerate, were invited in to plan the Third Five Year Plan.
Rather than invest in land-intensive industry, the economists recommended building tall buildings filled with little cubicles where people could spend their days spamming about politics  on the Internets with other people in other countries. Calling these things offices, they promised that these would catapult Iron Gate into a bright shiny future.
Naturally, real estate firms were the first to the party, with dozens of copycat chains sprining up along the main east-west road.
Before long, these Poly-posting forum-gaming office workers were demanding other facilities: an airport to travel to Polymeets, a convention hall for Polycons, a courthouse for the moderators to administer the Banning Rod in a just manner, and a stock exchange for selling shares in PLUS.
By the time over $175,000 in government money was used to erect the 80-story MingDanS Tower, the Capitalists seemed to be winning the debate hands down, with the old socialists confined to Tassadar Town in the northeast, where the only new development was a new garbage incinerator.

Going to be going home for a week, so went ahead and played up to Year 20.
Lofty goals were again projected for this five-year plan, with expectations of a massive inflow of residents. Investment in amenities such as libraries and museums was also planned.
However, that didn't happen. Pessimists suggested that goals were only half met. Optimists pointed out that indeed major libraries and museums were built, and plans under way for an opera.
Planners simply declared that the initial goals were higher than they needed to be. 
Instead, growth was concentrated in the retail sectors. As power demands continued to push the limits of the No. 1 and No. 2 coal power plants, to hold off constructing a third one, more heavy industry was converted into shopping.

Lots of stroes were opened on Propaganda Hill for citizens to obtain necessary information and goods, such as giant posters of DanS.
DanS Propaganda has taken full occupancy of the skyscraper, with Ming Media and Mindcontrol moving to a new office down the hill on the main commercial strip. Both firms continue to insist that the good times are still rolling despite record unemployment. Additional reports on MingTV insist that rumors that high retail demand is a result of advertising are lies spread by armchair communists.

Went through a few dodgy budget periods with education so i decided to doze the whole low density suburb for commercial and so doze the health and education, this moved all the idiots into highrises and development began proper "downtown", where you can see the highway flowing nicely with pollution.
I still have to build an airport and encourage somehow more development alongside the highway, and perhaps place some rail stations for my long rail route.

I was bored so i filled in the gap between Banana Grove, Mt. Pudung and Pompeii, this probably wont be updated, just to fill up the region so i played upto 2025.
If anyone doesnt object in the next 30 seconds then im gonna start building a small city next to Phoenix on the edge of the region.
