Without him, someone else almost certainly would have figured it out in plenty of time to provide the infrastructure for the Internet. I'm not trying to denigrate Bell's achievement, but it is a mistake to assume that just because a particular person invented something first, we would not have it without that person.

JK, the chinese were actually kicking our ass. It's scary poorly equipped chinese troops manhandled our troops so easily. But with the aid of nukes, we could have done won.
