jeez, you guys are so negative. The western edge of the storm is falling apart. It's already downgraded to a cat 4 before even making landfall. This storm will be nothing. The city will still be standing. Very few people will die.

I've love to see it. You guys are too afraid of death. That's the way I want to go. Standing outside in a hurricane. I despertately wanted to see a hurricane when I was in the navy stationed in the southeast. We had so many close calls. Though when I'm stationed on a ship, we have to set sail. As ships do not remain in port during hurricanes.

I can only say I'm hoping for the best, or rather the minimum amount of casualties and damage under the circumstances...

I also hope DinoDoc, who's in northern MS, will be all right. From what I can gather, he's right in the projected path of the storm, which will hopefully have weakened considerably over land.

Firstly the storm has been downgraded to category 4 and it seems its path has shifted slightly east which would put the weaker side of the hurricane over New Orleans...

1/12th of the Superdome's roof has been ripped off. It is leaking, and they're fearing for more of the roof.

Dis: The west did dissipate, but its the east that is always the worst part of any hurricane.

Some of the buildings weren't designed for this kind of weather in mind, so it's possible some may partially collapse (eg, like the roof of the Superdome) or maybe worse.

From wind, not from planes flying into it. Just seems a bit tasteless to drag 9/11 into it when it's got bugger all to do with it. It's more your post history though that made me assume the worst possible intentions (on a empathic plane).
