I have been watching footage most of the morning and see the folks lootong clothes and wading thru water waist deep what is the point the water is filth the new lotes are now drity and wet and there has been massive violence breaking out all over the city over the looting. I have seen cops catch looters make them take the stuff back and throw it in to the stores. The looting for food is eithr not being televised or it isnt happening any longer. Some of these folks have flooting bins they are putting stuff in. My main objsection to the looting is the violence that accompanies the looting.

@ Boris as soon as the leeves are pluged they will punch holes in the parts of levees that canhelp drain the water and have pumps that well work on that the same way. The news said it would be about 4 to 5 months to get all of the water out of the city

A looting woman was interviewed on Swedish TV4 News just some minutes ago. She had a shopping cart filled with food and toilet paper and told the reporter the police had told her to do it.

Some might be but it was just reported the police are firieng at looters in stores now. How idiotic is this. Both on the citizens and the police. I can only bet it is only gonna get worse

Oh to add one more thing on a good note from texas. The folks in the super dome are being evacuated to the astrodome in houston. As well as over 100 shelters set up in san antonio to house some of these folks.

And I saw the woman who said the police told her to loot. She didn't look like the type of woman to tell the truth. Yes I'm stereotyping. But she looked like the typical white trash on drugs (probably meth).

Why aren't those despicable looters eating at their underwater homes? How dare they loot food and necessities.

They should have planned for the hurricane by building an ark. If they were too poor or disabled to build an ark, they should have left the city. They could have asked for rides from their good republican friends who would only have been too glad to help them since they are christians and had all planned so thoroughly before hand as god so willed.

Well, that's pot smoking, anarchist, terrorist coddling, democratic looters for you. They just won't listen, when god says to get building an ark.

Correct. Few items are completely sealed, but rather packaged and then given just enough tape to keep the package from unraveling. Complete immersion would allow the water access to the compenents inside.

I would remind y'all that Bunnygrrl and I were supposed to get a ride out with friends, but because of circumstances, we had to stay and ride out the storm. When you have to rely on others to get out, it isn't as easy as you would think.

Now I know there are a lot of dumbshits that thought they could ride this out, but not everyone who stayed behind did so by choice.

I don't need to loot anything. My city isn't underwater and my power is back on. I'm gonna be late on rent this month though, since I had to spend some of that money on food and replacing perishables.

I only stole when I had no choice, and I haven't stolen food in a long, long time.

Aww such wonderful sarcasm. I would add i am neither rebulican nor democrat or liberal or what ever polotical party u can pull out of a hat. I dont vote in any elections. So on that note Id like to say sure a lot of folks didnt have the means to get out all i was saying is that they had a weeks notice since it blew the windows out of ches place to make proper arrangements, the whole city, not just the residents. And as I said i havent seen a whole lot of looting of food lately its been more of anything and everything u can fit in a floating tote.

Just heard a report of 'bands of gunmen' roaming the streets looting, vandalising... and killing. Lawless barbarians are rampant, the curtain of civilization has fallen away.

I wonder if these people were ever truly civilized? Perhaps they were just being held back by fear of the law rather than civic pride or responsibility. Take away the fear and you have anarchy. I firmly believe that if this happened in Oregon it would happen without the barbarism.

Most of the city is not under ten feet of water, just waist deep. In fact the most affluent sections prone to looting are not even under water at all, ie the French Quarter.

Putting aside the whole is (not) completely sealed let's assume a piece of electronic hardware is out of all packaging. At what point does a looter become justified to take this item that's not destroyed? If they say they believe they are "saving these nonnecessities from the hurricane/flood" and the owner left his shop is that good enough, regardless of the future hurricane/flood damage to the store? Or are there justified looting times and locations that perhaps should be posted in a public area and on the internet? I'm sure most looters merchandise rescuers have a sharp eye for determining what nonnecessities "will be destroyed anyways".

What slogan would a pro-looter use to endorse this good type of looting for nonnecessities?
