I paid $1.02 to tank up in Edmonton at the start of the trip. Didn't shop around at all. I counted myself lucky to find .97 on the way back in Camrose.

Those were both full service, btw.

Could you imagine a 7 hour commute every day? Roundtrip would be 14, plus 8 for work would leave you 2 hours to eat, shower, post, and sleep.

Yeah. I'm staying at Comfort Inns across Canada, and this being Canada, all of them have free high-speed wireless internet access.

I brought my laptop with me, and my GPS transponder. The navigator in the passenger seat has realtime positioning information accurate to 5m and maps of all of North America at their fingertips, including hotel/restaurant/reststop databases and information.

2.70 USD per US gallon (please note that a US gallon and an Imperial gallon are different) in Baltimore when I left.

1.10 CAD per litre here, which works out to 3.47 USD per US gallon

Gas: 1.13 Euros per liter ($5.22 per gallon)

I don't know what are you complaining about...
$2.7 per gallon is less than 60 eurocents per liter, I cannot remember the time prices were that low
