So I've had a number of blood tests recently. One of them was to check my testosterone level. Low testosterone mimicks a lot of the symptoms of depression: loss of libido, lethargy, deference to authority, shyness, procrastination, weight gain, etc.

So I got my test back the other week. The average adult male human has a score from 250 to 1100. I don't know that the median and average results are. That's what's considered a normal level, though it seems a rather wide range to me. I got a 176. I'm a girlie-man.

The good news, though, is this is rather treatable. I could take Androgel, but I'm not really down with the side effects: permanent sterilization, etc. The alternative is to take DHEA, which causes your body to manufacture more testosterone. This keeps the testicles working. I don't know what that's important to me, even though I don't plan on fathering any children.

This does explain a lot.

Just because you don't plan to now, doesn't mean that you don't plan to in the future.

So don't take the Androgel. Take the DHEA, unless the side effects with that are unbearable...

I should do similar. Depression symptomes and also several symptomes of low testosterone. Yet when my blood was tested for possible heart malfunctioning nothing about such was said, but then maybe it wasn't tested. If my moods don't get better with term start I shall see a doc anyway.

I have met with my ex today as well (separated 4 months ago, she has had a new boyfriend for 2 months), and I feel downright shitty as well. I don't understand why. One week ago, I felt nearly cured.
