Waku,
No worries - we'll see if you turn up (are you on AIM too?) and if so, you can pick any civ that's left. You can even join mid-game I think...
I will try to arrange for a fourth player today, from those people I know are fairly reliable. If not, it will do no harm to have a three-way session.
So far, Chris is M. Bonaparte, I am Billy Pitt and Henrik is the verdammt Frederick Augustus III, King, by the Grace of God, of the creaking and worm-ridden Prussian State.
(Who I must not annoy too much, 'cos I will need his help to keep back Chris's garlic-soaked hordes....)
I will play the Colonies move when I get home tonight.
John

The English have developed a new type of commercial venture: the Joint Stock Company. This will enable our Merchants to out-manouevre and out-compete their Continental rivals, we hope.
Further economic developments are expected with every new year, as the English State practices the art of empire-building with merchants and capital, rather than soldiers.
However, King William is getting old, and it is unlikely that he will produce an heir now. This means the throne will pass to his sister-in-law, the elderly spinster, Anne. On her death, there is no clear way forward for a Protestant monarchy, and the Jacobites can be expected to press the claim of James II's son. This can only mean more conflict, and it is unlikely that the Catholic Powers of France and Spain will stand idly by....
File posted here and mailed to Chris.

Ha! Well, it depends rather if you want to fight a war as the evil blocker of free trade and movement, or as the aggrieved defender of a sneaky attack by the perfidious English!
Actually, I was moving the troops there as a potential counter-attack force if I was attacked by you. However, on reflection, I think perhaps they would be more effective elsewhere anyway, so I no longer request passage for them. However, the Galleon (empty) that accompanies them is needed for trade transport on Lake Ontario. So please let that through and I will move the privateer back.
On behalf of the Dutch, I would think that the Man o' War off Dover is a great hinderance to them. It doesn't matter for me, because I have Dover (which is why I built it), but France is acting in a provocative manner, which may lead to a Dutch-English axis against it, and a valid cause for a war to defend the free use of international waters.
Just a warning...
It is turning out to be rather fun, Waku!

because of your damned warship, I have had to route my vessals around scottland, adding 4 turns to their trips to the new world.
You don't own that piece of sea, and all your doing is hurting Holland, a country that has done you no harm, and has no claims in your sphere of influence.
If you want to fight Britain, do so, but please refrain from hindering Dutch trade!
