Current (official) projects that turkey was involved in (which you might want to involve yourself in as well, it's you're choise) :
Madrid-Rome-Istanbul Raillroad, a project to promote trade between the nations around the mediterenean, this treaty is about a railroad being created across turkey, with a shiping line over to italy, where the railroad continues all the way to madrid, turkey was to discuss license rights for the railroad being drawn trough german controlled areas, so that the freight part wouldn't be necesary.
Mediterenean leage:
Since the most prominent great powers allied themselves early on, declaring that only democratic nations would be allowed admission (wich Italy is and the Ottoman empire has potential to be, the ottomans are a republic though), this alliance was basicly and exclusive group of great powers joining together to crush the minor ones before taking on eachother.
France was the only major power to stay out of this treaty (Russia joined, but thier loyalty seems questionable acording to german officials I've been in touch with, a great deal of tension seem to exist within the treaty).
As an effect of the "democratic" alliance (which is actually just as democratic as the other one, the only difference lies in the name) the mediterean league was formed, consisting of France, Italy and Turkey.
However with the change of government in France, France cut all ties with her allies and the democratic alliance as well.
This resulted in a short and intensive war where within a few months all of France was occupied by foreign troops.
Spain has chosen to remain neutral troughout the conflict but recently due to a change of government there as well the nation has turned into one of the democratic leagues puppet states.
As of now the mediterenean alliance (should you choose to stay in it) consists of Italy and Ottoman Turkey, while generally considered the opposite block to the democratic league relations are warm with both Russia and Germany.
It should also be clear to you that the same tech level exists within the both alliances.
Part of the clauses of the med. alliance is to maintain a joint fleet in the med wich can be used by any of it's members.
Italy is also to supply the ottoman empire with engineers and freights (1 engineer 2 freights) in order to help with the industrialization.
Question for you is, do you want to stay in the med. league or do you join the new Holy Roman Empire (I mean this not only for size, in fact it is even more true considering the politics) which seems to be accepting new admitions again...
As stated above though, the Democratic alliance is in many ways like the Holy Roman Empire, there is no real ruler, and all the nations act very individual, it has been estimated by millitary analysists that the next big war will take place between two powers within the alliance rather than the alliance fighting someone else...
