The Arts Flurish in Nova Franca!
After the brief, yet devistating battle for France, CEU capital is being poured into the French province of Nova Franca, in northern France, Particularly Paris. A new chapel, boasting the finest art has been completed, and is said to be the paramor of modern art and faith. While the art side is not to be doubted, this editor has to laugh considering the illegitamacy rate connected to the priests is atrociusly high.
Wine Imports Enibriate Happy Austrians
South Central France, now Gallia Vinorum, is begining to export their wine again for the first time since the begining of the battle of France. However, an Austrian multi millionare purchased all the vintage, giving to the Austrian public half the bottles, while holding on to the other half to age and sell to Americans who would like to own a 'piece of history'. It seems that this practice has boosted this man's popularity among the public, thus insuring him a seat in the next senate. This editor wishes to say that he finds this a reprehensible practice and will only shut up once he is bribed himself. After all, this is for morals.
Drunken Austrians prolong Police Protection Act
The hiatus caused by the enibriating effects of mass amounts of wine has forced the House of Representatives to prolong the emmergancy Police Protection Executive Order (#9)which was to expire last month. PEON was initiated during the spitwad riots caused by malitious French and German rabble-rousers. While most cities have been pacified, a few, like the Austrian town of Ghartonburg, still resist reason with the help of Lady Liquor. While responsibly drinking a glass of Burgundy, Ioannes I commented, 'I would hate to have to enact a prohabition law, but unless things settle down, such measures may be taken in certain districts that use the substance irresponsibly.'

Oh, and as a side note, Exile, if your still around,
I was thinking that mabey, in an mp game like this that civ2 rails should be gone altogether, that way one has to be more careful about troop alocation and Blitzes are much harder. And to compensate, the road modifier can be increased to at least six or something. Then, if you want, you can use railroads to modify mines and such with cute graphics for industrial sites. Probably a bit late to do that with this game, but I'd like to see if that'll work for later versions of the game.

Correction : Russia is still a proud member of the democratic alliance, and not as falsely claimed by foreign propagandists "on her own". And we shall gladly welcome spain into the alliance.
PS. Concerning the map, russian balkan possessions ought to be connected now... its a little misguided as it is.

New Trade Bonds With Spain!
The mediterenean alliance is rumoured to have signed trade deals with Spain regarding a Istanbul-Rome-Madrid Railway line, no more of this is known at this time.
All rumours are denied by the secretery of the foreign ministery.
However the new leadership in Spain is welcomed by the Italian president Henriko and his government.
MAN FLIES FOR FOR FIRST TIME!
At 10.35, on the morning of 17 December, the "Flyer" a contraption of wood, wire and fabric rose from the sand dunes of Kitty Hawk in North Carolina and flew for 12 seconds, piloted by Orville Wright. It covered a distance of 36 metres (120 ft) -- the first controlled, powered flight in history.
Orville and his brother Wilbur, both bicycle makers from Dayton, Ohio, have spent four autumns experimenting with flying machines at Kitty Hawk. The Wright's methodical approach and firm grasp of aeronautical theory sets them apart from many other would-be aviators. In their workshop they have carefully analysed their rivals' experiments and tested their own theories before conducting further trials on the beach.
On 17 December, the brothers made four successful trials, culminating in a 59-second flight before a gust of wind caught the machine and damaged it.
Many European governments are said to be interested in this new technology, but in it's current form the invention is useless to the millitary
