STYOM's Log
In the year 1050 BC, following the strange disappearance of warlord Mercator, a man of uncertain age and origins came down from the mountains to lead the Celtic people, or at least to be the eminence grise behind the... the... where's the throne? This leader (being unwilling to disclose his age at this time, he became known as simply 'Man', or to his friends, 'Da Man') made his first resolution at that moment: become King, and not merely a petty tyrant who ruled with an iron fis-
("What do you mean, no iron?!?")
who ruled with a pointed stick.
Priorities:
1. Monarchy
2. More cities
3. Trade
4. Complete Colossus
5. Map Making
Year 1050 (BC): End of turn. Whaddya mean, discoveries every 11 turns?!? Mysticsm is almost here.
A wandering minstrel informs our Defense Minister that the French civilization has been destroyed by the Japanese. Ooog. Man thinks they had it coming.
Year 1000: Caernarfon has gathered young men and women to go forth and found a new city. More of the town's youth are encouraged to seek their fortune in new lands.
Year 975: Our wise men have learned the secret of Mysticism. Man demands that they now learn the ways of Kings, and secretly has his head measured for a crown.
Year 950: Celtic wandering nomads continue road to Tintagel.
Year 925: An aide has finally finished counting our people (a task which took the last 25 years) and informs us the Celts now number 200,000.
Having added to the road near Carnaerfon, the young'uns of that town strike out eastward, or a direction that would be called 'east' if we had maps, to found a new Celt settlement.
Nomads from Armagh found Rhymney. Warriors from Armagh now call Rhymney home.
Year 850: Tintagel rounds up some locals willing to settle new lands. Now, the town elders begin to conscript young men to form a Phalanx.
Year 825: Cork now has a stalwart Phalanx for defense! Man orders the town elders to gather a group of Settlers.
Year 800: Some foreigner called Tacitus informs Man that the Celtic people are the happiest in the world!
Year 775: At the midpoint of his term, Man is displeased. The Celts, while strong, still languish on their little island and their wise men have failed to discover the secrets Man desires. Several of the wise men are impaled. Accidentally.
Settlers from Caernarfon form village of Iona. Town elders begin to recruit a Phalanx.
Year 750: Celtic wise men discover the knowledge of Kings. Man is pleased, and immediately orders that he be named King. Wise men, off the hook for now, are ordered to learn how to map Man's vast kingdom (Trade being beyond their feeble intellects for now).
Year 725: On a glorious spring day, Man is proclaimed King of the Celts.
Year 700: Settlers from Rhymney found Rhondda. Man immediately orders the recruiting of a Phalanx.
Travelers bring word that the American nation has started construction of some stone pyramids. Man doubts that these are feasible, but has the travelers imprisoned, anyway.
Year 675: Tintagel has rounded up a Phalanx. Man sends them towards Armagh. Warriors which were waiting in Carmathen are disbanded, and ordered to work on the Colossus, which now bears a strange likeness to the fearless Celtic King.
Year 650: Young men and women from Caerphilly are ready to go forth and settle new lands. Man demands that the remaining townspeople start work on an Oracle. But just in case, he tells them to make sure the stones could also be used to make Pyramids.
Man drains the Celt treasury to complete the Colossus.
Year 625: Carenarfon has more young ne'er-do-wells ready to settle new lands. Man demands that the townspeople commit another Phalanx to the Celt armies.
In another glorious ceremony, the Colossus complete with the visage of our fearless leader, Man, is unveiled in Carmarthen. Grown men weep with joy. Carmarthen is now building a temple.
Settlers from Caernarfon are building a road to Caerphilly, and Caerphilly Settlers are constructing a mine beneath the local vineyards. Man puzzles over the logic of this, momentarily. Our homeless settlers are now building a road towards Rhondda.
Year 575: Our wise men now know the secret of Map Making. Man now puts them to work discovering how to exchange goods, a secret which he calls Trade.
Travelers (where'd they get those boats, anyway?) inform us that the Japanese have started a Hanging Gardens of their own. Man certainly sees the attraction of a Garden to hang people in, and orders efforts to be redoubled in Armagh. Our population is now 300,000.
Year 550: Extra Phalanx is disbanded, and ordered to work on our Hanging Garden.
Year 525: Another Tintagel Phalanx is disbanded and put to work in Armagh.
Our homeless settler discovers whales near Rhondda. Man thinks they would taste good barbecued for his 3475th birthday bash, and orders workers to begin harvesting them.
Unfortunately, Man is discovered by local nobles during that same barbecue, in an indelicate position with a young intern from Rhymney. Man is forced to flee the capital with the paparazzi in hot pursuit. A new leader must be chosen!

525 BC: After the disapearance of Man into the Big Smoke, a new King takes the throne. He looks at his fledgling empire, and finds it good.
The mysteries of Trade are but a short time away, and our wise men say that a new way of recording knowledge "Writing" should be pursued after we have learned how to Trade. In anticipation of these discoveries, production in Tintagel and Caernarfon has been switched to settlers, ready for a pair of caravans to complete The Gardens of Hanging. (To ensure our menfolk are Hanged well, thus pleasing all)
After consulting with our happiness advisors, the temple in Carmarthen has been switched to a Marketplace (with a shift to Library planned, once the secrets of Writing have been unlocked).
500 BC: Rhymney builds a settler. Orders are given for more settlers to be constructed. There are two good city sites nearby that must be settled quickly.
475: Trade! As planned, writing is selected as our next advance.
Production in Tintagel and Caernarfon switched to caravans. Gold is spent to speed their construction.
450: Rhondda has completed a phalanx, and begins assembling a band of settlers to improve our fair land.
425: The Br'till have begun building Pyramids.
400: Tintagel completes a caravan of building supplies for the Gardens of Hanging, another caravan is ordered to assist our other Wonder. Caernarfon completes a caravan destined for The Gardens, another is ordered.
Illauntanig is founded on the coast near Rhymney.
375: Two caravans are added to the Gardens, enabling their completion next turn.
Iona completes a phalanx, orders are given to begin a band of settlers, for their is much work to be done.
350: Writing is discovered, Masonry is selected for our next research project. The Hanging Gardens are completed in Armagh, causing the residents to begin a celebration. A library is ordered, that we may speed our research. Carmarthen switches production to a library, which is rush built. Luxuries are raised to 20% to encourage Carmarthen to celebrate.
325: Carmarthen celebrates, luxuries lowered to 10%. A barbarian trireme is spotted off the coast of Iona. Discoveries down to 4 turns, with a profit of 12g per turn.
300: A band of Barbarian archers lands beside Iona.
275: Our brave Phalanx soundly defeats the attack of the Barbarians.
250: Masonry discovered. The art of Riding Horses shall be investigated next. Caerphilly is told to convert the partially built Oracle into a series of vast Pyramids to store food for our nation.
225: Tintagel completes a caravan destined for the Pyramids. Residents are reminded of their civc duty, and are ordered to construct settlers to perform public works projects. Illauntang has completed a phalanx for defense, and orders are given to construct a Ship.
200: Rhondda completes a group of settlers. A diplmat shall be trained to aid our exploration of the world.
175: Rhymney assembles a group of settlers to found the last city on our homeland. Residents begin collecting goods to form a caravan.
Caernarfon completes a caravan of goods for the Pyramids. More are ordered.
150: Carmarthen completes a Hides caravan destined for Armagh. Our wise men have discovered how to ride horses. Literacy is selected for our next research endeavor.
100 BC: Reports from travellers indicate that the Japanese have almost completed the Pyramids. Caerphilly's phalanx is disbanded so that we can purchase the remaining production.
75 BC: The Americans have almost completed the Pyramids. Iona completes a settler. Horsemen are ordered next. Caerphilly builds the Pyramids.
Americans switch to Great Wall, Japanese to the Oracle, the Br'till have switched to the Lighthouse.
Hides (D) caravan arrives from Carmarthen in Armagh. 40g
50BC Tintagel completes a public works commitee. The training of horsemen begins. Literacy is discovered. Our wise men begin research into Polytheism. Philosophy could not be researched at this time.
Armagh's Library is rushed. Carmarthen has completed a band of Horsemen, another caravan is ordered.
25 BC: Luxuries raised to 20% to keep the citizens of Carmarthen in their state of ecstacy.
1 AD: The Americans have changed their great project to The Great Library. Rhondda completes a diplomat, to be dispatched aboard our
trireme (completion estimated for 10 AD). Temporary entertainers hired in Tintagel and Rhymney. This will cause them to celebrate for the new monarch. Once they have celebrated, the entertainers can be put to work in the fields, leaving much joy (and trade) in their wake.
No one knows what has happened to our King Thoth the Builder, but legend says he will return when our empire needs him again.
We are first in all demographic areas except Land area (2nd) and military service (7th).
With 10% of our luxuries in taxes, 20% in Luxuries and 70% in Science
we are making 7g per turn profit and achiving advances every four turns.

Uhmmm....I'll post my turns, lemme find the stuff...
AD 400-Sir Blade assumes the throne
AD 410-Our diplomats inform us that the Spanish have developed currency. The english have developed Monarchy. That our allies, the Americans, have learned of Monarchy through there great libaries, that the English have undertaken the Great Wall and that the English and Spanish have declared war on each other,as if we cared.
Sir Blade rejoices as his scholars learn of Invention. He almost decided to have his scholars invent a weapon that whould revolutionize the world However, his countrys economy has grown too large for the basic currency exchange system. He has decided that better ways to manage money must be found.
The people of Rhondda Riot, displeased that Sir Blade, whom they do not like, came to power.Entertainers are hired to distract the masses.
Merthry finishes conscripting and arming a unit of pikemen and Blade encourages them to go out and tame the land around them.
AD 420-Sir Blades jaw drops to the floor as he sees English Warriors defend succesfully against A legion of Barbarians. He sees that the english whould best be kept a friend, less we face such skilled fighters.
AD 430-Our diplomats learn that the Americans have nearly completed this Big Wall of theres.
Sir Blade laughs at them, saying this wall won't even stop barbarians and that they were in Violation of the ABM Treaty(Anti-Barbarian Mission)
AD 440-Despite the worlds efforts to dissuade the Americans from building there big wall, they do.THe war between the Spanish and Japanese end.
Riots in Swansea over a lack of temple flair up.Blade wonders why these people are so ignorant, don't they realize he's building them one already. He desides to entertain them some more.
AD 450-The Americans develop bridge building. We send our Emmisary to America and they promptly demand our secret of invention. Now,not only do they blow us off and build the big wall, they refuse to share secrets and instead demand things from us.We refuse them,no longer wanting this alliance.THe alliance is ended by the Americans while the Celts are left in fury at the Americans for useing them.
Barbarians camped on the hill over Valladollid threaten to invade, and only a warrior and a group of settlers stand to defend against them.Blade immediately buys weapons to arm the conscripts at Valladolid with at a steep price (though much cheaper then the barbarians demands normally are.)to ensure the safety of that town.
AD 460-With the masons of Carmathean done building a market for the city,Blade orders that they begin building a workshop for the greatest genuise in there country,Leonardo.
THe Japanese develop bridge building. The Barbarian Legions storm down the hill and overwhelm the Warriors, though they fought valiantly.THe Barbarians sack the outer edges of the town, advanceing towards the Pikemen conscripts.
Quickly, vendors and merchants have put together a economy that can better manage the flow of money our republic makes. Now,Sir Blade concentrates on Theology,to bring new thoughts on a growing religous populace.
Talks with the Japanese prove fruitfull.A peace treaty is signed and for teaching them how to make maps, there first map of there country is given to the celts as a gift.
AD 470-The Barbarians throw themselfs against the pikes of Valladollid and are easily beaten. For there valour in combat, those pikemen are given veteran status.
Rhondda is told to begin gathering resources for a great Cathedral that will one day be built for the zealous Celts to worship in.
The leader of the barbarians at Valladollid is captured and forced to pay 100 gold in ransom.
AD 500-After a lapse of new events,Sir Blades scholars have developed the school of Theology,to better advance the application of religon across the lands. To herald this event, hes building a great Cathedral for some guy named Bach.
AD 510-Tara is founded on the mainland to take advantage of some unused land.
AD 530-Yawn...Sir Blade is bored.
AD 540-Boredly talks with the women of his court about how to make riceballs.
AD 550-Sir Blade is boggled how his people can learn to be bankers before they can learn how to count. This has all ended,Mathmatics has finnaly been researched.Feeling even more need for freedom,Sr Blade chooses to research democracy, that his country might reach greater heights long after his coming death.
AD 560-Nothin
AD 570-Talks with the spanish go well as Sir Blade bargains for there maps.Langollen is founded, yet another island taken for Celtic glory!
AD 590-Traitors!As Sir Blade lay in his death bed he learns that the SPanish have broken there treaty and destroyed Langollen and are attacking valldollid.Sputtering in Rage Sir Blade orders that his mighty armys smash the Spanish scum, yet the greedy, selfish, gaudy,(american),and decadent people of the Celts start rioting about this, and Sir Blade learns that he has spoiled the people of the celts, yet he can do no more...
But on a up note,Leonardos workshop is almost built, and Democracy is close to discovery,Gunpowder surely next in line.
AD 600-Sir Blade finnaly succumbs to his life long illness and has past away. However, before that his people learn of democracy, but the decison to enhance there republic will be left for the next leader. The attack on Valladollid was a total flop, the veteran pikemen to much for the unskilled archers. However,at sea the navy at Valladollid is in a dangerous situation...
Heres the dl
