Knowhow2, are there any lurkers west of Pi Complex?
We should put Phi Lumiere on the early conquest list as it has the Datalinks.

Sorry I've been busy the last few days and haven't had time to post.
quote: Darius, I guess everything worked out very well probe-wise; what happened? |
My first land-based probe slipped into Sea Collective unopposed and made off with a tech. The second was met by security interlocks, reducing its chances of success to 66%. (Yes, the interlocks were in place within the same turn.) I held the second back for a while. Meanwhile, I diverted a destroyer probe to the next base north up the coast. Security interlocks! 50% chance of success! Sit back and wait. I sent my next destroyer probe to the next base south along the coast, finding no interlocks there and stealing a second tech. I then proceeded with the previous two probes, in spite of the interlocks, and was sucessful with both, scoring a third tech and the Hive world map.

I was thinking the same thing.

(Two thumbs up!)
By the way, the University is working on a Planet Buster. I forget just where; I'll check it out next turn. I think they had about thirty turns to go to finish it, but I'll check on that. And I'll try to remember to check on which (if any) techs the Consciusness has that we don't, and update you on the tactical situation.

2102:
Sorry for the reload message; the game just suddenly exited when I clicked on one of the base buttons? I was nearly finished with the turn too; Grrrrrrr.
I infiltrated the Borgs (lost my (elite even) probe just doing that!). I take it that someone attacked Pi Complex and triggered the improved defenses (sigh). That may slow down my conquest there as I will need to have a more substantial force to take it out. I will have some forces on the ground there (at the sensor point) in 2105; probably a task force with a AAA defender or two, a probe or two, probably an Artie to start softening up the base and a rover if it seems necessary (I'd have to strand one of my kludgy transports there to deliver it). If someone takes out the base defenders in 2105, I can take it in the next turn; otherwise, I will take it a bit slower and soften them up first.
Darius, did you know that Aki considers you to be "Brainless"? Speaking of brainless, the fusion NJ transport has a movement of only 5 per turn, which at a total of 10 makes it just long enough to go between 3rd World and Pi Complex, but otherwise not too useful except for domestic shuttling around until I take Pi Complex.

2103 Here.
Nothing special to report; still building up task force to move on Pi Complex.
KnowHow2, would you please give me Centauri Empathy; thanks.
Darius, do you have infiltration on the Spartans; the University?
Do I take it correctly that the Interceptor Scramble bug is also triggered by anti-virus programs as well as scrolling mouse drivers (and whatever else)? Any anti-virus programs in particular?

Too bad about Sea Collective (shouldn't that be a Sea Base name?); I guess we'll need a good defensive force (including enough probes) to hold a beachhead on Yang's mainland. I've noticed that Aki has been building probes in some of her bases lately too.
My Pi Complex invasion plans seem to be still on schedule (except for a little distraction - see next paragraph). Next turn (2105), I plan to drop a few units on the "Sensor" point west of Pi Complex and load up a (normal, cruiser) transport with some more units at 3rd World, going part way to the same point. In 2106, I can take the base if it is sufficiently weak (I'll have a couple of arties, a rover and 2 choppers if necessary). If you all feel like emptying the base in 2105, that will make it easy for me, but I can probably deal with it if you've got better things to do. As I understand the turn order, Aki gets a chance to reinforce after Knowhow2's turn, but not after Darius' turn, so that may suggest something to you all; I see you've each got planes in Knowhow2's captured base (Alpha Prime? I think).
I spotted a Spartan Transport heading over toward Aki's land, I thought, but after my turn, I saw it go west instead - right in front of my transport (coming around to carry troops to Aki), just east of 3rd World at (70,30). It is a Disciplined 0-3p-3 Foil Transport with a Disciplined Probe and a Hardened 8-1-1 Chaos Infantry on board. If one of you want to take it out, it is within (fusion or elite fission) range from Alpha Prime (I don't know about your side of Pi Complex, but the land is free of obstructions (except for a lone former) on the west side of Pi Complex, so it shouldn't block you out unexpectedly). Again, this isn't an emergency as I have lots of forces at 3rd World, but my taking it out might diminish my invasion force a little and so far I am still not in vendetta with Santi, so I would appreciate the your taking a shot at the Transport if it is convenient. There is a Luxury Aerospace Complex not far away at Morgan's Ravine for your recouperating pleasure.

2105.
Takeover of Pi Complex proceding mostly according to plan. There was a digression to remove Santi's transport (it was right there at [70,30], I don't know why you all couldn't see it?) - I gave her a chance to be friends first (or else be crushed like a bug), but she preferred a Vendetta; so now I'm on her bad side - although from what I've seen of her forces, she doesn't have fusion yet and has taken over my former status of "pathetic" - she does have chaos weapons though. I've got some men at the Sensor Point and a boat with more stuff arriving there next turn, hoping to move right into Pi Complex. My convoy escort got left behind taking care of the Spartans, so if one of you has a spare NJ that could cover my transport, its right off the coast, two tiles SW of 3rd World. I don't think I'm at war with Aki yet, so maybe she won't attack it anyway. I've got a good collection of AAA units once I get there.
She's still building a probe at Pi Complex (and at several other bases too) despite the major damage knowhow2 did to her garrison. She apparently has 2 or 3 more probes on the loose somewhere, so that will be something to try to remember.
Darius, I'll be sending another former over to you next turn to take ownership of and send back to me (its a clean-drop unit, so it won't need any upkeep or transport handoffs) - more details next turn.

2106.
Well that raised terrain inserted a patch of sea fungus in the way of my boat, making the trip too long to make in its turn; Grrrrrrrrr. So I delayed my takeover of Pi Complex by a turn then and will do it next turn. At least the Naval Escort can get into the convoy this way. New schedule is for attack on Pi Complex next turn - 2107; air support in the form of knocking down the garrison and or clearing out any probes or other ground units inland from Pi Complex would not be refused.
Darius, the Drop Former is on its way to Miners Freehold, where I will turn it over to you. I will be asking you to hop it over to just next to Key Morgan at (37,13) to help build another BoreHole; I'll give you the suggested route next time. The Former at (55,35) is almost finished; should I forget to tell you in time, the next job for that one is another BoreHole 2 tiles down the coast at (57,37).
Are you OK over there in HiveLand? It looks like a boat is confronting your base and the garrison looks lower than I recall.

quote: Are you OK over there in HiveLand? It looks like a boat is confronting your base and the garrison looks lower than I recall. | Yeah, I took a beating last turn. Between the Hive, the Spartans, and the mindworms, I lost eight battles last turn. Right now I see at least three mindworms in my territory. The Spartans have three ships off my coast, and have landed troops on my mainland.
Woo-hoo! I killed the Spartan invader, then subverted the two Spartan warships and used one of those to sink the Spartan transport! The downside is that that used up a good chunk of the cash I was saving up to upgrade to Fusion.
Whoops! Scramble bug! I turned off my antivirus while playing the turn, but I guess that's not good enough. Now I'll have to start over, and you'll get a reload message.
OK, I'm doing the turn over. I killed the last defender at Pi Complex. I've started driving my rovers toward Phi Lumiere.
As I ended my turn, the Hive killed my last defenders at Sea Hive or whatever it is, and sank one of my two transports heading over with reinforcements.
2207 to John.

2107.
I took over Pi Complex and moved some forces in. I think I can stretch to take/garrison Iota (whatever) base whenever you'all take Phi Lumiere. I took a few turns for local needs in my military pipeline bases, but I can start up again soon and I have spare units unless I get a nasty visitor or two.
I wasn't really planning on taking the sea base, whatever its called, in the middle there between Pi Complex and Alpha Base(?), but I do have a (sort of defensive 4-4-6 AAA I think) combat ship in the neighborhood, so if you two are all out of naval power in the vicinity, I could seize it with that - let me know whether to keep that ship around or else it will go back to 3rdWorld with the transport (the combat ship is around the corner a few tiles from the sensor point; it likely would need 2 turns to get to that sea base due to fungus tiles).
Too bad about your recent setbacks, Darius - I just had a pop last turn near M's Ravine with 4 MWs, but fortunately I had an artie and a commando rover there, which was (barely) enough to take them out (made about 150ec though).
I'm going to send a probe ship from Onshore Bank around to infiltrate Santi, starting its voyage next turn (4 or 5 turn trip I think). I suppose I will have to go after the Spartan western bases across from me (North of Aki) before long, especially if I take Iota (whatever) base and thus that mound of new terrain also across from Santi.
Darius, I turned over the Drop Former to you at Miners Freehold; if you don't want to have to think about it, I would suggest that you do this: Drop to (53,33) (the Borehole straight north of you); use the road to M. ModestoMagnifico Mem'l; drop to Morgan Meadows; drop to Key Morgan; build Borehole at (37,13). BTW, you might want to repair the former's damage at MMMM or MMeadows where there are command centers, before the jump to Key Morgan.
Speaking of Miners Freehold, I would suggest that you build a Creche there before you home many units there - our Former dropped a morale level when I gave it to you; I noticed similar effects at 3rdWorld before its Creche was built.
Regarding the Former @ (55,35): Please move it nextdoor to (56,36) to build a Mine (I'll add the road); then to (57,37) for a BoreHole - the mine is an afterthought in addition to what I said last time. Thanks.

I have the Cruiser I mentioned last turn just outside the harbor where Beta Mudflats is located, I'll sail in and take it next turn if it looks like I can - Please take out that garrison if you can, I don't think it can keep replacing them forever, it doesn't have that much production. If you are attacking with NJ's you can park them on its miineral production between turns to further limit its regenerative ability.
Knowhow2, There is a Cyborg (I think) Probe at (75,43) - near Phi Lumiere that could use being killed if it is convienient. It was a little too far for me to get safely as I had made most of my moves before I saw it. The probes I have in Pi Complex are all Fusion so I suppose they will survive anyhow if you don't take care of it.
Darius, I've been thinking about planting a colony on that small island (with the monolith) halfway between you and the Hive as an airport and (hopefully) safe harbor for resupply, R&R and also as a way station for drop units between your continent and Yangs. Let me know what you think of that idea; it will take me a while to get it all together, but if you think it isn't a good idea, you can save me the trouble of figuring out the logistics.
