Trieste-Skopje RR Completed

Members of the The Adriatic Engineering Union have completed work on the Trieste-Skopje Railroad. General Case denies reports that the workers were 'encouraged' at bayonet point.

Fortification Constuction Begins

The Italian Army has launched an ambitious program of fortification construction. It is rumored that the Army's decision to begin these works owes more to the anticipated accomidation needs of a democratic state's military then any percieved foreign threat.

Goods Landed in Britain

The British Channel Trade Co-operative has proudly anounced that several shipments of Italian goods have been landed in Britain. It is understood that the goods will be delived to British cities next month.

Italian Engineers ready to return home
The Italian engineers working for the Third Republic returned from the remote recesses of the Alps this month. Now the team of 2 engineer corps is simply awaiting the processing of their papers so that they can cross the Italian border. In the meantime they are enjoying the luxuries of Mediterranean Nice at the expense of the grateful French government.

Governmental reforms initiated
This last month has seen a dramatic overhaul of the old fashioned administrative system of the Third Republic. Premier Winterfritz's cabinet has for some time been financing research into how governmental inefficiency can be combated; this investment paid off with dramatic advances being made last month in the area of Beauracracy. These reforms should see a dramatic strengthening of the government's already impressive administrative capabilities.

War erupts in Far East
Last month, after negotiations over the status of Korea broke down, Japanese ships attacked several Russian destroyers in the Far East; war was formally declared the next day. French observers have noted the impressive successes of the Japanese against Russian forces in the region and await the outcome of this conflict with interest.

Yeah it's true, I read it in a book about the Battle fo Tsushima. Nowadays, they have stuff for that because I have minor eczema, but you wouldn't know it. The trick is this: if you bother it, it doesn't bother you BTW my skin isn't mottled with rashes, nor is constantly irritated

During a discussion with Jmarks the other day he gave me the idea of making maps that look beyond just the political borders of the game. This is the result: a rough little population density map for our game whipped up during a gap in my rigorous ( ) study schedule.

Thanks Surprisingly, they only took about an hour... and yes, I was bored Maps in general are great though, and I think these in particular will be helpful in terms of strategy.

Winterfritz,

Nice maps! I think I like your color scheme much better, and would have used a similar one myself, but I'm too lazy to get that stupid color pallet in MS Paint to get anything decent. Anyway, one tip, the dense (12-20) and the hyper dense (20+) colors I think should be switched around in my honest opinion. MHO for that matter too.

I like those cities too, I'll incorporate them in further maps I'm making of production (should I get the info from other players) and railroad systems. Great work!

Yes, and when we're done expanding there, we'll invade your game through some futuristic porthole to your dimension! Mwahahaha

On the other hand I'm also compiling an industry map. If any in this game would like to confindentially give me the info, I could compile something up, since winterfritz is actually playing in this game here. Otherwise never mind.

Italian Democracy Proclaimed!

Months of political chaos have come to an end with the enactment on a new constitution which makes Italy a democracy. Political science experts predict that this change will greatly benefit the Italian economy. However, demographers warn that the celebrations sparked by this change could see Italy's population increase hugely in the next few months

The Times, May 1904 Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Navy Resumes Sentry Duty
Due to an error by a mid-level bureaucrat in the Naval Ministry, many ships were erroneously called to port following the formation of the new democratic government. The bureaucrat, who was clearly demented, claimed he intentionally misread available data, and needlessly sent many ships to port duty so that "citizens won't become angry". The man was arrested once the Naval Internal Affairs Division found out what he'd done, and now ships are resuming their previous duties.

Otherwise there have been many reorganizations this month, and German industrial development has been bolstered by the depleting treasury. Whitehall is a bit miffed that Italian productivity surpassed Britain's this month, and they seek to correct this.

Cyrion, I'm going to get my engineers working on by-passes of my Adriatic cities next turn, and they should be ready to go the turn after that
I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd do the same for your cities. If you're short of engineers let me know and we'll work something out.

Everyone else: just to fill you in on the significance of this; when these bypasses are finished you'll be able to move goods from the English Channel to Constantinople in one turn!
