Bilbao Captured! General AI in French Hands
Held up by the difficult terrain and the guerrila tactics of General AI's troops, French forces have been making a difficult and ardous advance through the mountains on northern Spain for the past four months. Just two days ago however, the efficient and well-equipped French troops triumphed over these desperate fanatics, capturing the stronghold of Bilbao in a pitched battle that had lasted over a week and left much of the city in ruins.
As the French flag was hoisted from the remains of Bilbao's bell-tower, an military police unit on the edge of the city intercepted an group of rebel officers trying to flee the city. These proved to be General AI and his most trusted officials, who promptly taken into custody. Upon the news of their leader's capture, the rebels garrisoning Ovideo surrendered, and have been interned by more French military police. All of Spain is now free from the menace of the mad General at last!
While French and Spanish crowds madly celebrated the victory of right against tyranny and the conclusion of the war, the General was taken to Marseilles where he awaits trial by an international court of French, Italian and British judges. A provisional Spanish government has been established in Ovideo, while French, Italian and British ministers are planning a meeting in Madrid later this month to work out the future of the rest of Spain, which is presently divided into military districts administered by its liberators.
In the French region at least however, it is uncertain whether there is much wish to return to the old days of an independent nation. Under French administration the districts of New Aragon and Castile have grown and prospered, in contrast with their stagnant condition under the old monarchy and the mad General. Numerous local Spaniards have even been petitioning for formal inclusion in the Third Republic. The Premier Winterfritz, presently touring the Spanish territories - and meeting wildly enthusiastic crowds wherever he goes - has not dismissed the possibility. 'The Third Republic is a people's democracy,' he told the cheering population of Madrid today, 'and if the people want the inclusion of the Spanish territories in France, that is what the people will get.'

I'll use the time ANZAC's holiday gives me to try to make the 2 online "adjustments" that have been waiting!!
So, Winterfritz, when (in GMT hours) can we meet?? The idea would be that you host from your last save. If you can't this week, no problem, just tell me so that I can go on for the second part of the trade!
And then I play my turn and we find a time to do the same on my or your turn, James!!

Trade news
The last month saw many freight moving; tons of goods reached France and were delivered to Paris and other cities. This should help to develop the already excellent goodwill between France and Turkey.
Thanks to the hard work of the italian and turkish engineers, the Trans-Europe-Express is nearly finished, the last few bypasses being under construction. So Roma, Istambul, Paris and other european capitals will all be connected by railways, which will help to develop trade massively!
Trouble in Turkey
Some unrest is reported to be developing in remote areas of Turkey! Some hot-heads, calling themselves the "Young Turks", are demanding the 1875 constitution to be reinstalled. One of the leaders of those so-called revolutionaries is supposed to be Enver Pasha, General in the Ottoman Army...
There is no doubt that the Mighty Sultan, His Magnificence Abd-ul Hamid II, will bring order to the nation and that the rebels will be severely punished...
