Hang on a minute, it's DinoDoc who has messed up, seemingly on purpose? Nope, seems not after all... I hope he's wearing shin-pads for when he kicks himself
When Logical Realist referred to a "jesus lovin',cross worshiping, mary praising, beed picking, money grubbing, tongue speaking, conservative Christian though.", it was semi-clearly (that is, if you read Zealot and LR's intercourse) in response to Zealot.

Ah Gibsie, you just spoiled it!
I was having so much fun with these cross-bashing! Don't you just love it when a self-proclaimed scientist feels insulted when someone disagrees with his ideals, based on I-don't-know-what-but-it-sure-was-not-on-personal-experience?
Now, about those fierce accusations:
-I do love Jesus! He's the greatest man who ever lived!
-I don't worship the cross
-I don't praise Mary
-None of the dictionaries I searched have the slightest clue of what 'beed' or 'grubbing' might be
-Yes, I do speak with my tongue, thank you very much
-I'm considered a "radical" Christian, as you might have already noticed, because I neither worship the cross, nor Mary, and no Christian should.
But since no one usually likes to see threadjacking, I think we should just stick to our oppinions about american teenagers getting involved in sexual illnesses, drugs, and alchohol abuse under 21. Wich, btw, you didn't express any worry about these problems anyway...

For STD's there is protection; that would be more available if conservative America would make it more so.
As for Alcohal and/or drug abuse(even though alchohol is a drug,as is caffeine,as is Tylenol) I didn't discuss that. Since I do not see how sex and drugs are necessarily linked. Now I think drug abuse is a problem at any age, with the serverity of the problem depending on the drug being used. But I also recognize that all drugs are different and cannot be simply lumped together under the word "drugs" and be treated in the same manner. Each one must be judged on its own specific natures. I think that US drug laws are too harsh in many cases. You get more time for carrying acid then you do for assualt. Which is ridiculous as assualt has a victim and to me seems far worse a crime. I also think pot should be legal as it is about as bad as alchohol, others like acid and such should be legalized under harsh conditions. Some like heroine should be illegal. Like I said, it depends on the drug. People need not be ticketed for drinking coffee before a drive, but for smoking pot they should be ticketed.I do care about drug abuse and hence aplaud rehab centers and rationa organizations that attempt to help deal with the problem via rational means.
I think more should be done though in the way of research and stuff into making drugs safer instead of just condeming their abuse. I would see such research into better, safer drugs as a more realistic solution, (since there will always be law breakers) then just banning drugs.
As for sex I don't agree with promiscuity, or sleeping with random people as protection while working almost all the time does not always work. Also there is a Darwinian precedence that goes against such random encounters known as sexual selection. In nature animals don't just mate with whoever(well maybe males sometimes) but are very picky about their partners. This tends to make it so that the fittest are chosen and hence survive. I believe that such pickiness and instincts are still in us, and that teens if left alone will not normally turn to promiscuity, especially when influenced to be choosy by culture. The whole random sex thing is more cultural than biological. But people should be allowed to do have random sex if they want. And if two teens want to have sex based on selective preference, I see no problem with that at all, as long as they use protection.
But you're right for the most part, I'm not THAT worried about drugs or sex because there are worse problems out there like murder, theft, violence, abuses of power, pollution, bigotry, war and greed. I'd rather focus on solving those problems then I would the "crimes" of sex and drugs. Which don't affect me too often, that Christians seem obsessed with(as well as homosexuality, and "satanic" rock music.) To me their priorities are backwards.

Conservative america makes condoms hard to get. Makes protection unavailable at clinics without "parent permission". Clinics in Cali are pretty liberal and can thus give away condoms whereas in other states they are not as availabe. Also conservative parents try to end Sex Ed. programs, don't want teens to learn about condoms and don't buy their teens any and such. I know a girl who went to a Christian school and didn't even know what sex was in tenth grade. That's in California, keep in mind it usually gets more conservative from there. Condoms whould be available at every bathroom; not just at inconveniant clinics and expensive drug stores. In that way protection would be easier to get and would hence be used more.

Better for your health? Explain to me how anything that affects your mind in unusual ways is good.
Tobaccoo is bad, but it does not affect your reasoning or judgement, therefore I don't think t should fall under the "get rid of at all costs" category. If people still smoke after all those TV specials and nicorette commercials, then they're obviously killing themselves on purpose.
How can anyone purposely and knowingly want to not have copmlete control of their actions and reasoning? That's like saying, "My mind is going to go on vacation for awhile, so I'm letting Fred, the slighty misguided guy, have control for awhile..."
Then people say, "It loosens me up", yeah, like whatever you do while under the influence you could never do without it, if you want to make an ass out of yourself, it doesn't take drugs.

Are you saying some people can't relax without mind altering drugs? I always thought, reading a book, a massage, etc. were ways to relieve stress... |
Well, there probably are people who can't relax without mind altering drugs.
You seem to forget that everyone's different. You enjoy reading books, I hate it, you may enjoy a massage, other people don't want people touching them at all.
The same argument can be made against such evils as Television. Are you saying some people can't live without television? Of course they could live without television, but if they enjoy watching television why not let them have at it?
