Somebody should create a THC pill that made you high without having to smoke anything. Now THAT would be a good idea!

I don't know much about the kinds of pot they smoke for medical purposes, does it not get you high or something?

All the pot I've ever smoked has gotten me high, and never gotten me sick. Except one time I ate a lot of doritos and cookies, then I puked because I ate too much. But it wasn't caused by the intoxicating effect, just my own dumbass appetite.

I've actually changed my habits. When I do smoke now, I don't eat. I just have a little water or something. But I've only smoked about 5 or 6 times in the last year.

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Im moving to Switzerland.

7 bucks for 3 gr.of good indoor budage?
I pay $40 for a quarter ounce (7 gr.) $70 for a half (14 gr).

Thats the only standard to metric conversion that I ever felt I needed to know.

LEGALISE IT NOW

Oh and I rarely play any Computer game unless I get high first (and during)-enjoyment facter x 10 plus it keeps me from punching my monitor..Im sure many guys wonder why I hang in the respawn area sometimes without moving.lol

On a personal note when I dont have smoke I tend to drink too much. Some freinds and family will even give me some pot sometimes so they wont have to deal with my drunken ass.

For you, perhaps. For me, fun factor reduced to 0!

As I said in my earlier post, I don't understand why ANYONE would do that to themselves. I have even largely given up drinking. It just doesn't DO anything for me.

Any time I have ever ingested any substance that others do in order to 'feel good' or 'have fun', the primary effect it has on me is to drop a veil over my mind - it makes me feel stupid! And I don't like it when my mind is not at 100%. In the past, my reaction always was "this is supposed to be fun? " These days, I just avoid the situations.

Maybe I'm just 'odd'.

I cannot deal with you people while stoned. I'd rather watch movies.

I'd have to agree with DetoitDave's assessment of the drug. There are no safe drugs. They all give and they all take away. However, it should be a decision made between doctor and patient, not Congress.

Finally, Padma, you aren't doing all that much to yourself if you only partake occassionally. Okay, the paranoia, when you get it (which isn't always, or for me, all that often) really sux. But it is a lot of fun. It feels good, that's why people do it too themselves. Some people lack self-control when it comes to pot, and do way too much, but that can be true of eating or excercising or just about anything.

Moderation is the key. As for avoiding alcohol, you are really missing out on one of the true joys of life. I can understand not wanting to be drunk, but a little buzz doesn't hurt unless you're tryuing to operate heavy machinery or the like. In the meantime, you miss out on the finer things in life, like the tastes and aromas of wine, the variety of quality beers, single malt scotch, saki, etc. Great alcohol has a wonderful flavor and smell, and, in moderation, can enhance a meal.

That's just it! For me, it DOESN'T feel good!

Otherwise, I can largely agree with your post. And I DO still occasionally have a glass with a meal, or at a party.

(Of course, maybe my nose is too sensitive, or something, but alcohol stinks! I can do wine, and some mixed drinks, but I can no longer even get beer past my nose.

You guys would love to be in Ann Arbor on Saturday. We're having the Hash Bash, the pro-legalization rally where about 3-10,000 show up to smoke down at the University of Michigan.

I'll be there strictly in an "observational" capacity, of course . But Ill try to snag some pictures.

Got spare money?

Simple reason: I don't want to be a criminal for something that I do to myself, alone, and in my own home, without harming anyone else. Marijuana in my region is a cottage industry that means a stable income for people who wish to live as much outside the system as possible, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Marijuana is illegal because it used largely by people who have very little political clout, because Randolph-Hearst saw it as a threat to his papermill industry, and because it would prove very troublesome to tax.
I have been smoking pot for a year now and my marks at school have not deteriorated, I remain in the top band of every subject I do (probably because just about all my subjects appeal to creative or abstract thought, e.g. english and music).
Just about everyone I know has at least tried it, and for everyone I know who does do it, they worry more about the health risks involved (and I'm not gonna totally sing it's praises, it IS bad for you), than it's illegality. Prohibition does not work.

Legalize? Why the **** not?

"imperialism"

Real libertarians might differ on what you call 'economic imperialism'...maybe only Argentina is an example, but how many countries are stupid enough to surrender their sovereignty to a band of unlected 'economic experts'?

This just in. In Memphis, TN the driver of a day-care's van was found to have a bag of marijuana in his pants during his autopsy. The accident he was involved in killed 4 preschool children in addition to himself. Tests to determine whether he was on marijuana at the time of the accident are under way.

Well at least these kids won't be bothered by marijuana any more.

Defining "under the influence" of marijuana is much more difficult than defining under the influence of alcohol. There is a farily consistent relationship between blood levels and the degree of intoxication of alcohol because in the body alcohol is distributed between blood, the other extracellular fluids, and the intracellular fluids. Therefore the level of alcohol in the blood corresponds to its level in the brain. The same is not true for marijuana, which tends to accumulate in the brain while being cleared from the blood. Marijuana can of course be detected in the urine even once cleared from the blood because minute amounts diffusing back into the blood from brain cells is rapidly cleared from the blood by the kidneys and concentrated in the urine. Field testing for marijuana via urine samples is generally out of the question, but many police departments carry devices for detecting alcohol in the breath.

In order to enforce a law against diving under the influence of marijuana every traffic offender would have to be taken back to the police station to urinate. It would also mean that you could be charged even though you last smoked up to two weeks ago. Laws against driving under the influence of marijuana just aren't practical to enforce.

It has another meaning, sort of like "a noble, hopeless effort."

And now, an academic question for Dr. S. which is probably of no interest to anyone--Does marijuana show up in the CSF (or, as one of my neuro profs so memorably described it, "the brain piss")? If so, does it "hang around" like it does in the urine?
