Seriously, I don't think America can ever really fall. Unlike Rome, we can't be weakened internally nearly as much, and tactically, a military takeover is nigh impossible.

We have so much technology, so much power over the world market, and our fingers in everything and everyone we can possibly hang onto...I seriously think that acts of God are all we have to fear...

depends on how you define "weak", after sept. 11, a lot of muslims where the target of aggression, something like this could escalate into a civil war, and then you got the fact that a lot of poeple are carrying a gun, which probably means everyone will kill everyone.
true, military takeover is impossible, but who does that nowadays, when you can simply hack the US into a 3rd world country

Such naïve opinion is laughable.

You think you're here for all eternity and are invincible ? It's a superiority complex, a try for propaganda, or just a plain childish affirmation ?

I hope America (along with all other exclusive states) falls when humanity in general figures out how inane and superficial nationality is. The sooner the better.

In any case it probably isn't too distant when the US will undergo serious changes. We look about halfway through the Revolution->Stability->Corruption->Revolution cycle.

Hmm, let's see...

1) Corporate take-over. E.g. we become a wholly-owned subsidiary of MicroSoft or maybe of AOL-Time-Warner.

2. Would a military take-over qualify? I mean, we'd still be the U.S.A. but would just be under new management.

3. Alien invasion. (Independance Day only with a different ending)

4. Eco-disaster (pan-national plague, comet strike, blight destroys our agriculture, nuclear/radiation leak )

5. Rebellions -- It wasn't too long ago when Alaska was talking seriously of withdrawing from the Union. Alaskans were really ticked abvout the federal govenment dictate that about 2/3 of the state was to become federal parkland and reserves.

The end of the US doesn't have to be a bad thing. You can regress, progress, or stay in the same place. The US constitution allows for slight/slow changes, but not enough to allow all forms of progress.

If the US ends and we have a better form of society take it's place that's a good thing. Plus it is somewhat enjoyable to listen to the replies that this thread has provoked...
