A few points...

Our financial and economic systems are freer and involve greater openness than European markets, which still have their heads stuck in the sand and follow past socialistic models, leading to EU countries experiencing higher unemployment and slower growth. Hopefully the UK will continue to follow the US in decreasing labour market regulations, thus improving labour mobility. We have a central bank similar to the US's in openness, led by someone who would never utter the ridiculous words "I hear but I don't listen" (Dim Duisenberg).

We believe in countering violence and warmakers around the world rather than letting them fester as some European would prefer. Roll on the war against Iraq!

Our economy more closely follows the US than the EU (and thank god for that!).

Britain + US = the world's premier nations.

US, Japan, Germany, Russia, China are all more important than the UK, internationally.

Hopefully we'll soon get even closer to Europe sooner rather than later so that Europe and US can be the two premier nations.

The US has some good things going for it but we need to make sure we don't get anything like their electoral or legal systems and keep the good socialist basis of our country. It's no good being 'rich' if we are increasing the divide between rich and poor and seeing crime levels escalate whilst spending less on programs that can help poorer people and reduce crime. I'd rather have less money and more services.

You could still volunteer, after the war we'll be needing more soldiers to replace the dead. (Even if it's just friendly fire victims again) Army needs people of all different skills, you could go into logistics.

Anyway, nobody gives a **** about Britain nowadays. They have no power in Europe, no power in the US, no power anywhere really.

Also, your thread title should be: America is more British than European. You make it seem like your little island nation is just American offspring.

Anyway, back on topic. If you like the US so much go join them. I'm sure they won't mind another state in the union. We in Europe don't really want you anyway, we just say we do to keep you from whining all the time. We rather have Poland than a third world nation like Britain, where a monkey can get elected and trains crash every 3 seconds.
