Did we see the same movie?! Cuz the one I saw, also titled "Attack of the Clones," was horrible. Boring plot, horrible writing and dialogue, wooden acting (especially from the Anakin, ugh), and characters as deep as puddles. And cliche after cliche after cliche.
This wasn't a movie, it was a bunch of barely connected scenes wherein there were lots of pretty, if sterile, special effects. Big ol' YAWN for this one. The fact that it stank even without Jar Jar being pervasive proves he wasn't the fault of the last one, it was bad on its own right.
Stick to the Empire Strikes Back. At least those characters are worth caring about...

Some of the dialogue is cold, but that's classical acting. You could say the same thing about Shakespear. I like the classy and dignified conversations. The pauses, and the looks on the charachters' faces tell so much. This isn't some 90 minute comedy full of obscenities that no one will remember two years from now. This is a film for the ages and, as such, demands a proper presentation.

WHAT?! Have you only seen college productions of Shakespeare? There is nothing cold about great Shakespearian acting. Just watch on Olivier film. Or McKellen, for that matter. No decent Shakespearian actor I know (and I know many who do Summerstock here in NY) would find a bit of truth in this statement. Ludicrous.

The looks were, for the most part vacant. They didn't tell anything, because, thanks to Lucas's crappy directing, the actors had no clue what was going on. It's not their fault, it's his.

No, it's a pretentious, 2-hour borefest that no one will remember two years from now. Like TPM, it will collect dust on video shelves.

Ages 6-10 only, it seems. Anyone wanting more intelligent filmmaking must look elsewhere...

I rather enjoyed it, except for the completely trite love story and Anakin's horrible acting. Geez, you'd think Jedi training would include Talking to Girls for Dummies and Public Speaking 101.

clones sucked arse, the only way it kicked arse was if it kicked its own arse. check my sig for a great line from the movie. did anyone else notice that they used some of the same cheasy lines from episodes4-6? Anakin was awful, he sucked, end of story.
oh yeah, the people i shared the theater with did at least 3 standing ovations during the movie and was cheering and shouting 4 more times while the movie was still playing people need to calm down, its not like the actors can hear you, and some of us are actually trying to pay attention to the terrible dialogue.

I just saw Attack of the Clones and I thought it was okay, but it missed a chance of being great.
There's a scene with Dookus and Obi Wan (If you haven't seen the movie don't read any further) where Dookus says he's on the good side, trying to stop the Sith. If this idea had been developed further, it would have been great. It could set the stage for a split among the Jedi.
When Doofus says this stuff, I thought, all right, now things are getting interesting. But instead Dookus ends up being just another servant of the dark lord. Boring.
The other thing that bugs me is where did all the military ships come from? We know where the clones were made, but what about the starships and those copter-like flyers.
And there's no explanation about the clones becoming the army of the republic. Wouldn't someone ask about how these clones came into existence and who gave the order to create them?
The latter two problems could have been dealt with quickly in two scenes, but it just gets glossed over.

It was The Last Crusade to Episode 1's Temple of Doom. Progress, but barely measurable. As bad as episode 1 was (and to be honest, I kinda liked it), I don't remember people laughing in the theater at so many non-intentionally funny moments. 2+ hour science fiction/action movies should have more 'neato' moments than you can get your mind around. This one had like 5. And if "I hate it when he does that" passes for wit in Lucas' mind, he needs to get more. I get the distinct impression all his cronies we're watching George run amok and saying "Yeah George, great idea. But can we lower the light levels in the yoda battle?". He's like an indie film maker in the sense he doesn't care about what people think about his movie, but an indie film maker with a blank check. Nobody wants to read a poem by someone who can't write a coherent paragraph, and what we have here is an epic poem by someone barely conversational in film.
