quote: Sweden did have a colony in north america for a while |
Indeed it did. Do you know details about exact location and name, Henrik? "New Sweden" in the Delaware peninsular is my working assumption, but I haven't researched it yet.
Steve,
quote: And Sweden is now a civ? Now I am intrigued, the European portion of this one must be MUCH more involved |
It is indeed. We start in the middle of the 30 years war, just whan Sweden was getting involved. The idea is to make European affairs much more crucial to the Monarchs of Europe (as indeed they were at the time), and for colonisation to only gradually assume importance. Initially, the New World is there for Spain, for those who would steal Spanish Gold, and for the Fur Traders, Trappers and Hunters of the St. Lawrence waterway.
Oh and Henrik,
quote: France choses not to comment on the loss statistics |
Those stats were only for my turn. Taking the French and Spanish moves of 1768, I think losses are about even. You have lost more Cavalry and Horse Artillery, I have lost more Foot Artillery and Marines. Our Grenadier losses are more even. But I have plenty of fresh troops left in Calais and crowding the ports of Dover and Portsmouth, just waiting for their turn to hop on a France-bound troop convoy!

Actually I just did an english assignment on the Swedish colony in North America (yes it was in the Delawere region), a few days ago (we got to pick what to write about ourselves so I picked someting I was somewhat familiar with).
I still have it on my computer if you'd like to have a look (it is somewhat compressed though as I initially overdid what was to become no more than 2 pages )
Apart from that text I do have more info if you need details on some parts of it.

John, this should help you in reguards to Sweden's colonies:

I'll be happy to help with Version 4, but ONE game, not EIGHT!
I'd also like to put in for England, so I can FIGHT!
As Henrik and Waku know, I'm quite good at war, and I'd like to play something besides victim this time!
Henrik, the Dutch were busy celebrating a "Thanksgiving", and could not post.
Back to the action, Holland, concerned about it's shipping, has dispatched a portion of it's fleet of three-deckers to protect Dutch transport for pyrites and other unsavory types, led by the flagship Piet Hein.

Thanks for the link, Chris.
Obviously, I haven't decided about the playtesting in detail yet, but I think we could let you have the English, and Henrik the Swedes. (Please don't everybody else pile on...there will be more than one playtest game, and enough for everybody!)
No tournaments, tho' so you only need play in one game, Chris...
I will possibly take the Dutch myself, and as you will see, they aren't quite so limited in Col4. They do start off in Democracy though (called Republic), and can't change for a while.
The English get the option later to have Parliamentary Monarchy (Republic renamed), and it would be funny if you deliberately opted for this in-game. As you well might!

Chris, please be sure to leave the area around Calais open for reinforcements coming from Dover and Portsmouth!
Thanks.

Alien activity spotted in Virginia
An English brigantine (Prestige?) sunk near Finisterre
Agadir finally joins the Spanish province of Western Sahara.
Now that I've taken two of the most succulent french cities to the spanish taste, I will concentrate some efforts to the Brits. Why? well, la France est un peu sandwichée by you and me John, I selfishly prefer them fighting you I'm only showing my intentions, no talks, no truces, no peaces, no agreements, nothing
Steve, most of times it's not a good idea to show the nicest pics, if you wanna load and see the meaty stuff just let me know and i will tell you my password
