I have played many people over the ages...... but what is everyones position on slow play? Personally its the one part of the game that drives me bonkers....

should slow players get a break if their skills are great..or should the game move along at the quickest pace possible?

I have no problem with people who take the time needed for their turns... BUT WHAT THE HELL CAN TAKE 2 or 3 minutes on the openning turns.

Slow play really pisses me off and takes a lot of the enjoyment out of the game. It's not funny to watch three players take less than a minute per turn early, while somebody else is taking forever.

It annoys me to no end.

In the 7 player we played 3 turns in ~3 hours of actual playing time. Diety had 21 units TOTAL and 14 cities, yet he managed over 20 minute turns. I had lunch and came back and he was still moving, this i just can't understand.

i am not bashing Deity directly......its a simple , honest question.....it applies to many other players as well which is quite unfortunate.

all everyone wants to know...other than Horse (whom we know is surfing porn or only using one hand ) what are you guyz doing between turns....

especially if you have fast connections

In my case if I'm having a slow turn its more likely to be because I'm feeding the baby, changing his nappy or holding one of my kid's head whilst he vomits into the toilet

Deity's slow play is a real mystery. There are two main theories - obsessive perfectionist micro management or procrastination.

Or both I suppose - he's never come clean because he's in denial about it

We prattle on KC, Horse disappears to do things with baby bottles and nappies, Hydey watches the footy on TV, etc.

Yep. Not as much as I was. I got out of the habit when I had 6 or 7 months away thanks to mad work schedules. Our Friday night Oz group - whomever turns up - is a lot of fun. I probably should try to get back into the groove.

i have heard about the connection deity has...... even seen it in action....

The footy your talking about ....is that aussie rules footy, Real footy (soccer) or *yikes* american football...my guess is the first

U guys should use icq phone or even better a different messenger service which allows conference calls

Yep. Aussie Rules. Hydey is a fervent Carlton supporter. They are currently bottom of the ladder. If they finish there at the end of the season, it will be the first time for about 80 years. Of course, we're all praying they will.

Hes lieing. You can tell exactly how much lag someone has by the speed of there units when they move by you. His caras on automove just zip around the map... hes got as much lag as anyone else.

Yeah slow play doesn't bother me that much either - our main beef with Deity, and the source of all the jokes, is the fact he flatly denies that he dawdles. If he'd admit it and tell us why there'd be no more room for jokes.

whatever adds spice to your games i guess....in your case with a baby and kids.....i am sure playing Mr. Mom requres breaks....

i don't smoke and i live on my own....so i don't have distractions...other than the tv......

and i can do the laundry while the others move.....

but 20 min for a short turn.....yikes....

with four players we can do four turns each during the midgame !!!!

but whatever works for you lads......
