Simple. Don't be a Lich, then. Then again, there's more of a threat from the death knight right now than from you, so you could be safe now. Also, it is possible for liches to become good-aligned...

Sandman:

You automatically have Protection from Evil, so the Death Knight automatically gets a -1 THAC0 penalty.

Also, if you wanted to be able to turn this damn thing, you would need to be at least 8th-level to have any chance of success.

Since Lorizael's 5th-level, I'd say you're at the same level. You need to be 9th-level in order to use priest spells, so Protection from Evil's all you got.

If the death knight agrees to single combat I go in and fight him (aiming for the smilie button; must be the source of his power).

If he disagrees I back off and form up into a fighting unit with the rest of the 'group'.

I play a modified 1st edition (it was unmodified until 2nd editon came along and ruined everything, and I figured if TSR could arbitrarily change things, so could I). My major problem with third edition is the hard limit on character levels -- what is this, a computer game?

The longbow is a composite longbow +2. (I'm figuring your STR rating's good enough. Any blacksmith can make magical composite longbows, actually-- add an extra 100 GP per +1.)

You're 5th-level. You can hurt it on a roll of 13 or better on a d20 (your Thac0 is 13, its AC is 0; as 5th-level, your base Thac0 is 16, I figure your DEX is high enough to improve your aim, and you get an automatic +2 from the bow).

Sandman:

What type of weapon do you have (short sword, long sword, etc.)?

Right, so it's a bastard sword +1. Makes your Thac0 13 (+4 for being 5th-level, +2 for STR rating, +1 for the sword itself). Not a holy sword, though.

*rolls initiative* Oh, good. Sandman goes first, then the Death Knight, then a couple of skeletons, the Che, then everything else.

Right. Sandman, you... *rolls dice* hit. As you connect, the Death Knight disappears, as do the rest of the undeads. It seems they were all illusions.

I vastly prefer the Unknown Armies method for D&D:
