Boris, that is a no way. That won't happen. That is like having George W. Bush run for office next year with Al Gore as the vice president... won't happen.

Yes I do have gay acquaintances here on apolyton... but I don't hear about love lives too often.

Heh, some funny stuff.

But he is under the (false) impression that gay pride parades are dominated by flamboyant behavior, and they are not. That's just the stuff they like to show on TV.

Enough... I don't want another word from either you about each other.

If you have issues, deal with them some where else.

NOT ON APOLYTON.

If either of you continue this, the other should ignore it and PM me... or BOTH will get the same treatment!

And if anybody else continues it... they will get the same as well...

By despicable, I meant a callous disregard for the people they dated and hurt through selfish actions, or by dating someone who turned them into a complete ass.

Unlucky dating isn't despicable, just kind of pity-inspiring...

MrFun: Not quite. At this point, I seek only to date gay men. It is possible that, in the future, I will date a bisexual and maybe even have an LTR with him, who knows? I can't rule that out any more than I could rule out getting hit by a winnebago someday in the future.

Why my seeking to date a gay man is of such concern to someone else is rather baffling.

It's not a concern, you have every right to discriminate against who you date, but this doesn't stop it from being shallow and closeminded when you do it on the basis of them being black, hispanic, bisexual, what have you.

And it sickens me that after all your bullshit about equal rights you refuse to give those same minorities equal rights in your eyes. You rank one sexuality over the other for your own purposes, you rank one race over the other for your own purposes.

It's closeminded, shallow, and a blatant act of hypocrisy.

But now you've blinded yourself to it, and you'll argue to the death that it's not. Anyone with a f*cking brain can see it is.

I don't think its close minded. Just as someone might prefer brown hair to blond hair, its a matter of preference. Besides, who cares anyway? Its his life, he can date anyone he wants and has a right to set his own standard. I hardly see that as closeminded.

Its not closeminded to not want to date someone with red hair.....maybe that person just doesn't like how red hair looks? You can't change what you are innately attracted to. If red hair just doens't do it for someone, why is that closeminded for them to acknowledge that fact?

It's not closeminded to acknowledge it, but to practice it.

I don't see why the word doesn't fit. If you do not want to date someone simply because they've got red hair, they're black, or they're bisexual, it's nothing but closemindedness.

Socially acceptable closemindedness? Probably
Is it your own business who you date? Yes.

But the second you bring up your dating rationale on a public forum don't you dare get angry when someone lashes at you for it.

BZZZZ wrongo. I never asserted that my reasons for not dating a bisexual were the same as someone choosing not to date someone of a particular race. I simply said that, as in such an instance, it is the right of a person to decide who they want to date, whatever the reasoning, and not be expected to explain it to anyone else, period. That in no way gave my reasoning behind my personal choice.

quote:
That is close minded. Rationalize it all you want, it's close minded. Fact is fact.

Nope, it's not. You're blindingly stupid assertions that people should be held to your standards of dating are what are closeminded.

I have "admitted" no such thing. For the upteenth time, you're making an assumption about my rationale. And now you're blatantly lying about my having "admitted" something I did not.

quote:

If you think so, that's up to you, but I know it isn't. So you can either keep screeching like a harpy about it, or you can just shut up and move on with your life.

quote:
And it sickens me that after all your bullshit about equal rights you refuse to give those same minorities equal rights in your eyes. You rank one sexuality over the other for your own purposes, you rank one race over the other for your own purposes.

Oh please. As I stated before, the core of equal rights for LGBTs is the freedom to date whomever one chooses. With that, the freedom to NOT date whomever one chooses goes hand-in-hand. You are the hypocrite if you can't see that. Choosing not to date someone is in no way equivalent to depriving them of any of their rights. If that were the case, you'd have people dragging their exes to court every time they got dumped. You'd have people crying "bigotry!" everytime someone who didn't find them appealing rejected one of their passes. Carrying over non-discrimination policies into private dating philosophy is 100% ludicrous and just about as PC bullshit as anything I can think of.

Since you don't have experience in this department, as you yourself have admitted, I would suggest you follow your own advice to me from another thread and shut up and go away. I am eminently more experienced and qualified in this realm than you are.

Isn't it close minded of you to outright dismiss someone's dating habits even though you don't even know the background and thought process to their decisions? You're living under the assumption that everyone should be attracted to everyone else on an equal level. This is a clear untruth, and this is where I base my argument that it is ok not to date someone for the aformentioned reasons.

Stop playing this game, Boris, you suck at it.
Here are your own words, verbatim:
quote:
I do not want to date a bisexual anymore than I want to date a heterosexual. I am attracted to gay men, I want to date gay men.

quote:
We were saying that, personally, we have no desire to date bisexual men.

It seems obvious to me that you're admitting that you don't want to date bisexual men on the grounds that they're bisexual.

quote:
You are the hypocrite if you can't see that.

Nice, now we're entering several levels of hypocrisy here...

quote:
Choosing not to date someone is in no way equivalent to depriving them of any of their rights.

Never said it was.

quote:
You'd have people crying "bigotry!" everytime someone who didn't find them appealing rejected one of their passes.

Never used that word.

quote:
Carrying over non-discrimination policies into private dating philosophy is 100% ludicrous and just about as PC bullshit as anything I can think of.

Boris, I think you've got the wrong idea here.
I'm just saying that you rejecting people based on sexuality is shallow and closeminded. I'm not saying you must change it, that you must give everyone a chance. Everyone is shallow on some level. Would you date a 800lbs man? No. Would I? Certainly not.

And I think I can safely say that the whole point is moot for you anyway. No bisexual man in their right mind would want to date an opera singer who only thinks he likes gay men...

quote:
Since you don't have experience in this department, as you yourself have admitted, I would suggest you follow your own advice to me from another thread and shut up and go away. I am eminently more experienced and qualified in this realm than you are.

No need to call yourself a whore.
I don't see why experience has anything to do with it.

You don't want to date someone because you don't think you can relate to them, seeing as they also are attracted to women (don't lie about this, I'm looking at the other threads you posted in about it). That has to be the worst copout I've ever seen in an argument, because heterosexual relationships seem to work fine and they have far, far less in common in the sexual attraction department.

Perhaps you should read the two threads I linked above where Boris went through many posts describing his thought process and rational behind it.

I never assumed anything. In fact, I've acknowledged everyone is shallow on some level.

Denying that people are shallow is so incredibly stupid.
