yawn.
It's war. It's life.
We are not in the right for killing those people, nor are we in the wrong. Is it justified? Who knows.
But why is it that when a wedding is bombed, with 40+ people die, a whole hububb is made, but when in Sudan whole towns are wiped out nobody even knows? Russians in Gronzy? No, Gronzy is 96% gone.
I am always reminded of a quote by Trudeau whenever these threads start up (or the civil lib threads):
"Bleeding hearts dont like to see helmets or guns. Go on and bleed, it's more important we have order"
And when asked how far he would go do to so
"Just watch me"
Scary, but it seems like a prophecy.

Ned,
1) Greece, as many other countries, including a sizeable portion of the american electorate, was against the NATO bomardment. We believed that a political solution was preferable. And that is why we did not contribute any planes to it.
The fact that the bombardement permited to the Kosovar rebels to create havoc in the Former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia justified our position.
2) I dont think the US tries to limit civil casualties when it goes on a bombing spree.

So the killing of 62 inocent civilians every day by your government does not elicit a responce from you.
I see.
I think you have a serious want in the department of morality, monneypenny.

Interesting, I wonder how they know this from the other side of the room. And because its american? Thats supposed to be taken as absolute truth now? I dont get it. I guess they made a few calls to kabul.....oh wait, Kabul doesnt have telephone service. I suppose they took the existing claims, which are coming down every month as they confirm how much bullshit they were.
3000+ plus civilians didnt die
Give it a rest you trolls.
Even Al-Jazeera reported 4 here, 10 there.....yes there were a few. But at no time did they themselves claim thousands had been killed.
Funny, where are these bodies? Where are the people of Kabul saying 500 people were bombed in a mosque at the north of the city on November 17th? Why doesnt this make sense? Wait, is it possible the Taliban lied! No, of course not?
Juvenile Crackwhores indeed.

10,000 civilians killed. This has been confirmed. The whole city turned into Stalingrad, the Russians warned the population to leave. Most did, but some couldnt or refused. then they encircled it and made a large rolling barrage to prevent what happened in 1996. The City, is no more today and I doubt it will be rebuilt anytime soon. 300,000 refugee's from Grozny, 60,000 from Gudermes. Not a peep from Europe or the UN. Typical. This is why the ICC is a waste of time.

Amen, Jon, Paiktis is just jealous that Greece can't kill 62 Turks a day. And the rest of the Europeans and self-hating Americans are just jumping on the bandwagon.
They hate us and rate us, because they ain't us.
Of course it's not great that the US is killing innocent people. We know this. But we also know that we're doing something very difficult and very confusing. It's hard to avoid civilian casualties when your sources for information are manipulating you into killing off their enemies.
When Europe was preeminent it ran into the same problems. But because of communications difficulties, few people ever heard of the atrocities committed by the European empires. America is suffering in public relations because the increased communications media, many of which we spearheaded and developed, are being used to show the world the mistakes that we make.
It's like this. There's a job to do. Murderous criminals who attacked the United States have to be hunted down and either killed or captured and then killed. If Europe doesn't like this, they don't have to be involved. If they don't want to be invovled, they can opt out of NATO whenever they wish. But unless the European community has a better solution than what the United States has put forward so far you're just going to have to accept that mistakes will be made.
And Saint Marcus, if Europe is so powerful (I seem to recall you bragging about the sizes of the potential EU armed forces versus the US), why doesn't it intervene to prevent the crimes Russia is perpetrating? Because Europeans are all talk and no action. You all would rather post your complaints on Apolyton or wander the streets with angry signs, than grab a gun and make an actual contribution to fighting evil in the world. The United States tries to be the guardian of liberty and enlightenment values. If you think we are failing in this, why don't you try to take over?
