It is a lot easier for a foreign Jew to settle in Israel, than a foreign non-Jew. This policy started when Israel was just formed some 50 years ago, and still hasn't changed.

The current Israeli governement wants to prohibit non-Jews from buying land in Israel. So even though a good number of non-Jews live in the country, they won't be allowed to buy land. Apartheid anyone?

On top of that, the Likud party has made the pledge never to allow a Palestinian state. It doesn't matter if the terrorism stops, it doesn't matter if the PA becomes democratic, and it doesn't matter if Arafat is around or not. They don't want a Palestinian state, for the sole reason that it is a Palestinian state.

How come I don't see any threads saying "Saudi Arabia (or Oman, Yemen, Qatar, U.A.E., Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Algeria...) is a racist state?"

Plus, just vetoing a Palestinian state is not racist. It's like saying you're a racist for turning down Affirmative Action.

Germany isn't in the predicament Israel is and has been since its foundation. Plus we're not talking Israel for Israelis (or Jews) here, so the analogy is just plain wrong.

Yeah, why don't I. Suffice to say that if East Timorese people wanted to install the same safeguards the Israeli are, they'd hear no whining from me.

The comparison still fails though wrt. hostile neighbours, as I'm sure you actually realize. But heaven forbid you should ackowledge the special needs of Israelis.

No it doesn't. The Indonesians didn't leave out of the kindness of their hearts, and the Israelis have never suffered the same losses the Timorese did. The Jews as a whole have, of course, but so far as I see it that isn't sufficient justification for preferential treatment to Jews from, say, the US or UK. If they want to provide a safe haven for Jewish political refugees, then that's fine. If it's just that they're in the business of maintaining the dominance of one ethnic group over another, then it's racist, pure and simple.

It's racist in nature. The Israelis say that no non-Jews can own land in Israel. They may be Israeli citizens, they may have enough money, but they still aren't allowed to buy land? Why? Cause they aren't Jewish.

Isn't this exactly what South Africa did under apartheid? Or Germany under nazism? Or Yugoslavia under Milosevic? Or present day Zimbabwe under Mugabe?
