Suspects, Professor Denis Evans and colleagues at the Research School of Chemistry at the Australian National University, allegedly used lasers to suspend small beads and violate this storied law, enjoyed by fervent engineers and illogical creationists alike. Although this law is so fundamental, I suggest no more than 100 hours community service if the suspects are apprehended, since it is their first offense and only involved small systems at small timeframes.
If the behavior continues, or others try to reproduce the act, I would support a harsher sentence to deter this crime.
In other legal news, the golden rule has already been broken about 1.6 billion times today. I'm still voting to turn the other cheek to these, but do note the increased frequency of violations.

Well the creationists claim evolution is impossible because of the 2nd law of thermodynamics and that things tend toward disorder, so how could complex life arise? Of course if they actually bothered reading the next part about closed systems and acquired an intellect and brain, they'd have realised that the Earth is not a closed system and there is that thing called the, erm, sun, yes, that's it, that does work...amazing eh?  Basically 'creationist scientists' totally butchered and misunderstood the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
As for this, interesting, but this looks like one of those really small things. I have my doubts about it's implications though, after all, enzymes function perfectly well...
