As a reference to Moo2, the units of cash are BC.. BILLION credits. Think about how much one gold coin in civ 3 actually buys. If you have a gold coin, you're pretty rich. That's enough to retire and live off the interest nicely. Maybe that's about $1 million USD (hehe random guess).

Therefore IMHO gold coins should show someone's ultimate wealth.

Panag : I think the minister of the economy can be central banker, mint, whatever you call it. After all, he doesn't have much power gamewise at least for now), and can have time to be central banker.
Issuing special coins is a good idea, for special events. I think Abe's crushing defeat will be an excellent event to immortalize with a coin

But I don't exactly get what you mean with "cents". Is that a new name for a coin (a voin labeled "1 Cent" is worth 5 coins labeled "1 Apo" ? ).
In this case, I have to disagree with you. As I said earlier, names coming from RL displease me much. I mean, we're here to create, not to imitate.

BTW, I will suggest a complete project poll in less than 5 hours.

The poll will be labeled so :

To reply to Captain's point about conversion rates :
I thought about what you said. But if we have 100 Apos for a Dankos (10,000 Apos for a Lyton), it will mean people will earn roughly 80 bananas a day... And our people are far from being that rich.
I really like the 1 Apo = 1 banana conversion, because it will be more convenient for people, and will satisfy some banana-partisans.

Since we are officially Egyptians, I'd say we should go for Egyptian Alphabe. OR, given that the official language of Apolytonia is English, we should go for latin alphabet, for the sake of simplicity (also, our alphabet waws bought from the Brits)

Not to sound dictatorial or anything spiffor, but even if the poll looses, I think you should ask Donal to name the currency something- now that we have it, it can't go unnamed for too long, and honestly, I don't think anyone anywhere ever actually voted for the name of their national currency (as a transnational one, the Euro doesn't count), so I think the Minister of Economy has the power to just name it, period.

I agree, unfortuanately I don't have a 3d model of any or our presidents or ministers.

I got: a gorilla, an eagle(you could call the coin an Eaglot, maybe a half-Eaglot, Smaller coins could be hawks or sparrows), a horse, a polar bear, some Egyptian and Medieval stuff. Any ideas you got for that and I can make a graphical sample for you.

Also I don't think we should use the decimal system as were still quite a young civ we could change our number system to a base 12 instead.

I agree, I could make different eagles/hawks in different positions for different denominations, like a bronze, silver and gold Eaglot and maybe a copper Sparrow and iron Falcon.

We need a name before we need any graphic designs!

Right now we have Eaglet, Guapo, Lyton, and others: but what is their significance?

Naming our currency after individuals is bad form- we had no single founder, no Bolivar or Balboa, so naming it after an individual would not be, in my opinion, wise. Putting individuals on the coins or giving coins the nicknames of individuals is fine, but naming our money something like Uber: that just 'cult of personality' not consistent with a democracy.

Where anything Banana related comes from is clear- and I shall oppose it fervently- its boring as hell for everything in this game to be banana based.

Were Lyton and Apo comes from is clear

Were Guapo comes from is not, and neither is eaglet. Will those that support these names, or others, be kind enough to write down what significance these names have to our historyor people- what the subdinomination shall be, and possible shorthand- just like this thread called for.

Lyton is loosing in the poll, but besides Guapo and Eaglet nothing elese even halfway there has been introduced and their connections to our fair civs are at least unclear to me.

I also call on Donal to be more involved, and darn it, I said it before, if nothing contructive comes out- then our Minister of economy should simply name it himself- darn these fickle mobs!

In the "Apo-Dankos-Lyton" project, we already gave a name to "cents" : they are called "Apos", being the subdivision of a Lyton.
No need to add a further subdivision (an Apo is cheap enough already), esp. not one from a RL name.

The 'Eaglot' was so named because of the prominent engraving of a swooping Jungle Eagle on the face of the coin. One of Apolotonia's first extensive currencies, the Jungle Eagle was chosen as this "King of the Sky" was considered a good luck omen by the Apolotonian soldiery. After the declaration and subjication of the arrogant nation (sorry slipped into Jesse Jackson mode) of France, the Jungle Eagle seemed an appropriate icon for the Apolotonian coin as they were rapidly becoming popular 'pets' for Apolotonians who used them to hunt the local infestations of Banana Rats...........
