I don't think that puting Europians or Americans in the same team would solve the problem. Even two Europians might not have the same free time. The one might work at the mornings and play at the evenings and the other working at the evenings and play at the mornings. My opinion is that there is no chance this game especialy with 8 players even with subs ready or any other game with fewer players to go fast all the time. Some days it will go fast and some days it will go slow. The only posible way for a game to go fast at the most times is to have more than one players (moderators) who have the time to check frequently the posts and notify the appropriate players for delays or to next turn someone. Even then we must expect some dalays but less frequently than before. And to mention it nobody's fault exept if someone slow down the turn rate persistently

I also don't think that timezones are the real problem.
If you want an 8 player PBEM, you need players that check their e-mail twice a day.
So, when making teams, it is more important to have players that understand each other, so it does not really matter which one plays the next turn.

I see another problem about the turn speed. We would need to take a look at the turnpost once a day or more. But this is really pain, for Apolyton seems to be not the fastest one. So we can only try to do our best. You can't force a game to be always fast. If you want this, you need players who are online the whole day ...
Sometimes, I even do not have the time to check my eMails once a day, but I try to do.

Fellas I usually check my email very often every day. But the trouble is not with how often I check it , but how often I get access to my computer at home. When I'm at work, I see that the turn has arrived but there is nothing I can do to play it. Everyone must be in a similar situation (unless you are lucky enough to be sitting @ home all day! ) , That is why sometimes I play my turn in 5 minutes and other times it takes me a LOT longer. This delay problem just cannot be helped.

I'm glad to see I was given my 12 hours to play my turn thank you! An sense Maestro already sent the turn on, I guess I just get screwed out of another turn sense I also just sent him the turn I just play within the 12 hour period that I'm supose to play my turn in.

Arthur is in again - he has failed more than twice (we all know that for sure) for the last 1½ months - but I say: Let us see....

I had problems myself - if I didn't have "my own" mailserver, I could be in the same deep S...!

I explicitly stated that this I was playing his turn and sending it on, "incase" Arthur didn't meet the 12 hour deadline. What this was supposed to mean was, Maestro would wait 12 hours and if he didn't get a new turn from Arthur he could open the turn I sent him and play it instead. I see there has been a slight confusion.

The reason I opted to send in the turn immediately was simply because Arthur has missed the 12 hour deadline twice and then I had to remember to play his turn and send it on, and each time the delay was 24+ hours. Obviously, I have other things to do, and forget to monitor whether my team mate has played or not. So I thought it would be fastest if I played his turn and sent it on, and Maestro would give Arthur 12 hours, otherwise play the turn I sent him.

There has obviously been a bit of confusion in here. Maestro, from next turn onwards please wait for Arthur's 12 hour deadline to expire before playing any turn I send you.

Arthur, Sorry about this big mix up, I didn't mean for it to happen.

I had received turn 12 at 27/11/2000 at a late time in Greece and I played it and sent it yesterday (28/11/2000) to you Arthur. I hadn't read the posts and I didn't post. But reading the posts now I am not sure wether you have received my turn played by me (it is if the mail's receipient is me) or my turn played by Swissy.
