The calculation would have given a significantly more accurate number (if no more informative) if you had divided the total hours by the number of hours per week instead of multiplying.

It'll take X/Z weeks to produce the alpha, not XZ.

(Someone has to point out the flaws in Vel's maths now Chowlett has left )

I guess that I'm still not clear on this. Do we, or do we not have a firm date?

Afterall, I was looking forward to the Pizza and beers

We'll prolly have a firm date about 1 day prior to release....which leaves us just enough time to scare up some pizza and beer for the "We Did It!" celebration!

Actually, I did overstate the issue, but I was ticked off by continual nagging about a date after Vel restated his reasoning for holding off on giving a date. And I have recently seen fans badmouth a company for being too slow on a patch for a game that IMO, was very stable to begin with.

I do regret making a blanket statement...

I agree that gaming companies often promise the moon, but end up delivering much less. So there is guilt on both sides of the coin too.

I feel that Vel has been open with where we stand, and I strongly feel that Vel will not rush something out until he feels confident that it is ready. We have the benefit of not being tied into profits either, so a timetable will not cause us to rush.

All I saying is that there are enough options to fill the time - after all 'Crusader Kings' is around the corner if you all need something to do until Candle'Bre is done...

No you don't actually.

Chowlett left ages ago - he hasn't been on 'poly for months either - and (IIRC) never did any coding for the project.

Enter the AD-FREE zone

Looking at the calculations he did, whose to say, maybe FP himself was behind all the code.

I hope not though..

Tell you what Vel,

You air mail me a bottle of fine American beer, I'll track down and air mail you the European beer of your choice and then we can do a semi-virtual celebration over IRC! Anyone else is welcome to come along but only the first four get beers sent out to them (from me at any rate)

I leave pizza purchases to individual discretion....

Rich.

Yeah, and I'll send you a Carlton Cold (our best beer in Oz) for one of your Millers. I used to guzzle those when I was over there.

Guys, I'm liking this idea, but here's what I'm seeing....if I send each of you a bottle of fine American beer, and get a bottle each in return, you guys will each get a good beer, and I'll get...absolutely plastered! I'm lovin' this plan!
