Hmm I've heard that before. I think that today's France policies have something to do about it too though?

Plus I think Americans have a hard time understanding that the French sometimes have very different interests than the US does. Then again I think the French sometimes work so hard at having independent interests they sometimes forget that our interests and their interests really do coincide every so often so they go against the US on intertia even when it would be best to not do so. |
I'ts like their policies in the Middle East. IF you care to go beneath the rhetorics you'd see that both the US and France (and other countries) are pushing aggresively for their interests without regard for whom they hurt and they "dress them up" with rhetorics about humanitarianism etc etc.
For France its even more striking when you find out because it is supposed to be the bastion of human rights.

I think people would have noticed if there was a fight between France and the US.
He may be referring to when France quit NATO.

My father was treated like a son by a french family during ww2. He said that the overall resentment against Americans by France had to do with us bombing their country to oust Hitler's forces. The German army left but the french remained in their towns and got bombed even after being warned of the invasion by leaflets. Some Americans have responded to the resentment so now each side hates the other. Of course many people here do not hate the french and I certainly have nothing against them.

Ah, nothing like the sounds of trolls firing up flamethrowers.
Americans have nothing against France. It's a great country.
It's just that we have unrelenting hatred for the french people. Comes from being an english colony. When they kneel before their rightful sovereign, we'll reconsider.
