Thanks for the advice guys, it's very useful in planning.

Right now I'm placing cities (have about half of them done) and everything physically on the map, and tweaking the list of units. The thing is moving slowly, but it's still moving, so don't lose hope that it will get done.

Looks beautiful, great work!

However, you may want to add a bit more detail to the end of the barrel. Take a look at this picture:

Right now yours looks reminiscent of WWI rail guns.

Updated unit list.

Also, on an unrelated note, if anyone knows a better system for naming the naval vessals (the exact # of guns would be nice, rather than 40/60/80/100), I would appreciate it if you would enlighten me. I mainly deal with the land aspect of the era and don't know as much as I could about the war on the seas.

Not half bad status, thanks a lot.

If you want me to be a bit nitpicky for future work, it appears as though the barrel and the entire unit may be a bit thin.

I have a howitzer unit, but it looks a bit large. You can work on another version if you really want to (though the one I have is fine), but if you wanted to help out you could work on an Imperial Guard unit (as shown here), or if you could change uniforms (and not just make new models, unless that would be what you prefer to do ) for some of the infantry units so they look more country-specific. If the second option appeals more to you I can provide a lot of images for you to go by (or pictures of anything for that matter ). Just post here or PM, just let me know.

And thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Got spare money?

Hm.... different textures for each country? nice idea... hmmm... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! No! That would mean i would have to do the pixel by pixel work for each unique country and since pixel by pixel is extremely time consuming, boring and frustrating as i always hit the wrong pixels and I'm not full time employed making units... no thanks.

Imperial guard link didn't work. Please repost.

I was thinking about different graphics for 3/6/9 pounders? If i make all the guns they would look like a complete graphics set which would be quite nice for the scenario.

Not up for a marathon session of pixel re-shading? Drat, I guess I'll have to scrape together for a pizza and pick a night then.

Sorry about the Imperial Guard link... seems I forgot to put it in.

As far as the artillery, it would be great to have all customized units... the problem (as I see it) is that all of the artillery looked very similar, so it's really hard to tell the difference. Most of the artillery of the time looked nearly identical. I'll try to find some pictures of new artillery units, but for now infantry units would be best (if you don't mind ). Guards and some sort of Turkish/African eastern unit. If it's easier for you (and you don't mind

Mounted Cossacks: Cossacs graphics shipped with game.

I'll throw you the 3 pounder an then I'll get into a european, a middle east and a swedish (caroliner) infantry unit. (I'm just a sucker for swedish infantry, the best troops of that time, used to break russian/danish/polish forces twice their size. Maybe this could be get reflected in the mod. )

Swedish troops were about the same calibre as the rest of Europe in 1800. However, the Polish troops of the time were actually superior to most other nations (even major powers). Sweden can hold it's own against anyone though, don't worry.

Excellent work on the 3 Pounder... it looks exactly like I thought it should.

After taking a few glances, your current Guard unit looks almost identical to Smoking Mirror's Napoleonic Rifleman unit. If you could remove one of the stripes on the X (more specifically the one from the right shoulder down to the left side of his body), and modify the uniform a bit (take a look at the Prussian one, for example), then it would look more like a REAL rifleman, since SM's looks more like a Guard unit than a regular infantryman of the time.

Your Swedish infantry appears to be a bit out of date. Those guys appear to be 50 years before the start of my scenario. Of course, as long as you modify the HAT to look like the ones you've been doing, then that should work... that's about the only difference.

One last important thing is the Turkish/African infantry. I only have a Janissary graphic (which I want to keep unique for the actual JANISSARY unit), but no real graphics for that entire group (which is a bad thing), so that unit is fairly important at this point.

One last thing. If you keep your current infantry (Guard) model and save it as something else, and save it for later, it will probably simplify the process of making future infantry units (as I'm sure you already know ), so keeping a bare copy of that around might not be a bad idea.

Just some thoughts on the unit stats: would it be better to have Infantry get 2 moves and Cavalry 3 or 4? Moving around a giga map of Europe would take a long time.

Thanks for the support.
I changed the map size from giga down to huge. Before when it was giga I had 2 vs 4 movement points, but giga was just too large and unmanageable. So don't worry, the movement VS size problem isn't one any more.

Status: the only timetable is sometime after PtW is out. I need the diplomacy options it includes, along with the 'scenario pack' option to have all the graphics in one spot (this scenario will be so huge in the graphic mods department it'll be necassary to have them bundled... my Civil War scenario didn't have as much external stuff). The culture flip off will also be very useful, along with a couple other things I can't think of at the moment. Basically, you have all the time you need to work with (within reason ).

Here's the immediate priorities for units when you have the time:

- New excellent quality generic musket/rifleman base (same shape as you've been working with, just make it easy to change the uniform around for custom configurations for each country... that will make it so that we (I) don't have to modify Smoking Mirror's unit pixel by pixel)

- Swedish Musketman (to see how the base works when you expand add a full uniform, and also since that's one you want to do ... remember to use the base and keep the hat the same as the rest of the units, not the colonial hat)

- Eastern/African/Turkish Musketman

That should keep you busy for a while. Just post again in here (or talk to me in the chat if we're both around) if you need anything else beyond that. Soon I'll have good, excellent quality uniform images for you, so mainly work on the musketman base and Swedish infantry (since you know what they look like exactly), for a test run.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Cool, that should work pretty nicely for a base, though that cross-stripe may have to go later on, but many countries have it. Now all you'd have to do is smooth it out, add a more detailed skin, and shrink it.

Have a nice weekend.

Ship naming:

How about th Royal Navy approach

First Rate/Second Rate/Third Rate etc for 100/80/60 guns

or Three Decker/Two Decker/Frigate for 100/80/40 as 60 gun ships were mostly obsolete; out-gunned by 80 gun ships and too slow to deal with Frigates

Myrddin, excellent idea!
Though I was aware they called them that, I had never really thought of that. The current 60g SotL is pretty useless (or at least has less of a place) (unless you have a smaller naval power, i.e. Austria or Prussia, and even then they're easily outgunned by the French/British 80/100g vessals), so I think it's fine where it is.

And thanks for that info tibit as well Henrik.

One thing I'd like to know if someone has accurate info is how each nation's cavalry stacked up. I have a very good idea of how good each nation's infantry was, but on cavalry I'm a bit sketchy, so if anyone knows more than me I would appreciate if they would inform me.
