This game is quite interesting! Someone nukes someone's entire nation because they stole some advance off the internet (pretty serious offense! ) ... now nuclear winter rears it's ugly head to possibly destroy the whole earth! Quite educational.

191 is in my inbox, I'll play it when I get home(3hrs).

And I did not nuke all of the Celt civ, what hit was what I though was his four biggest trade cities. I had hoped to throw the Celts into revolt from lack of cash. Actually the Germans seemed to be more nuke happy than I was. Since I built a number of SDI, I stopped a least 6 nukes and still a number of attacks got thru(some were spies).

And The Bird Man is right, I do not like anyone stealing from me. What made it worse was Slamp has his turn after me, and everytime he got an Internet hit I saw the message at the end of my turn.

This game has been highly instructive and I understand many concepts of the game which seldom matter in single play. Through examination of my other PBEM games I figure Tilemacho's Greeks were hit by an empire size problem(geographic spread/total poulation). It hit his largest cities first. The combination of capitol loss, little gold from trade routes(as cities revolted the trade disapeared) and war unhappiness; his mid-sized cities were drawn into revolt also. When we set the civ to AI, the AI prevented the revolts by going to Anarchy and lowering production. Those in other games on gigantic maps should be warned that those far-flung empire aren't so manageable once the cities start to grow large.

Hah! You try to make me the villain of the piece Swissy when everyone knows that I am a peace loving and environmentally sensitive guy! I never wage an aggressive War and certainly only use Nukes as an absolute last resort when in fear of my Nations very survival.

I think that the sudden collapse of the Greeks was amplified by the CD based Scenario we are playing. I should have followed Slamp's advice and at least played through the Game solo before we started as it utterly trashed my tried and tested strategies. I have never had to worry so much about City micro-management in any other Game. I certainly have never had to concentrate so much effort on Science Improvements and actually really employ Specialists in a focused way rather than simply use Entertainers as a stopgap until City Size exceeds Productive Radius.

I have got away more lightly on the Happiness Scale because, although I have the biggest Cities in the Game, I am basically concentrated on one Continent and all those really big Pop Cities are tightly knit. Tilemacho was spread far and wide, had a huge number of Cities and was fighting a War under Democracy. Swissy and Slamp must have been facing similar problems at the time and Slamp must be creaking now he is so huge in geographical spread.

It is by far the most difficult Game I have ever played in and I think Slamp deserves an enormous amount of credit for the time and effort he put into producing a wonderful fusion of the DC Acc Start Mod and CD's brilliant Mod. The result has been fantastic and it's a terrible shame that it has taken the hard work of some CtP enthusiasts to show just how truly Great a Game CtP is, and should have been on release, if only Activision had put in the extra effort.

Turn 192 to Slamp

I guess it would be useless to remind Jon that I was the one who pulled your bacon out of fire when Tilemacho attacked, and that we were allies when you attacked(gaining the benefit of negated ZOC until you pulled the trigger).

On the pollution front, the Germans have yet to reduce their output of toxins. They have the only cities with triple digit pollution. I fully expect a major ecological diaster within the next dozen turns.

Turn 192 to Don.

It is easy to say that Germany must reduce Carbon emissions but the three Cities concerned already have all the possible eco-improvements built. It is their 'base pollution' which is so high and that cannot be helped until a more enviromentally sensitive Governmental system is researched.

All that can be done is being done, Production has been radically reduced and no further Robotic Plants or Airports are planned. You will have already noticed a reduction on the Pollution Graph and it will drop further.

Thanks Jon about my scenario. I'm also very surprise about the difficulty of this game. I hope I will able to use the scenario in a multiplayer game in next few month (I will have adsl soon).
I think that the most important is CD mod. It's a very different game than original one and it's very good

Hey there!!

Nice to see that this wonderful game continues...!

To answer some of your questions about the reason my empire revolted. It was solely a matter of financial problems! I didn't know that the game first pays wages in capital and then gains gold from it so I rush buyed a ship of line and left only 250 gold in cash. If I hadn't done this I would never have my cities revolted! Although my empire was big I didn't have unhappiness problems because of the railroad connections.
After I decided to quit the game (which by the way was a wise decision...I only need 12 more lessons to finish University... ) I did some research to see how I was doing....

In general statistics (sum of productioc + gold + food) I was by far the best and only the Celts were close. Swissy was better only in that he had more advances.

About my war: Swissy is right. I think the complete destruction of the german empire was a matter of 5-8 turns (!) and my only real problem were the Aztecs and their strong military units...

BTW did anyone read my review of CTP2? Did you like it? I hope that we can play a accelerated PBEM game after some months when the patch comes out!

Excuse the interruption...

St Jon, you've got me interested in this Slamp scenario because you praise it so much. How about starting our own invitational (as we tried to do earlier) using Slamp's APQS scenario? I'd be willing to play in a 4 to 6 player invitational game, if you're willing.

By the way, EAGLES AT WAR is moving at a snails pace. We're not even through turn 0 yet, and it's been over two weeks since inception!

TheBirdMan -- Granted. By inception, though, I meant the day of proposed start, which was 18-Nov-2000. So I don't think I am unfair in my comment. No, I still wish to play Eagles at War, and I appreciate all the work you've done so far, but it is taking a lonnnnnnnnnggggggggg time to get going.

Quinns, I would love to play another Game using this Mod and really cannot praise it too highly. Slamp underestimates just what he has done with the Acc-Start by having it 'staggered' so that you don't simply have a set of Size 5 Cities on Turn 0, which at any decent Difficulty Level, will just Riot and Starve. It takes two fabulous Mods, interlinks them and then adds something totally new. Experience has shown me that in MP CtP, for other than DM's, you must have a 'kick start' into the Game or else it can so easily be destroyed by the apathy of all but the most dedicated.

Swissy also deserves huge credit for his series of Games and Sophix giving us, what seems to be, the most popularly used Mod of all in Semi-Acc. I've not yet played WesW's Mod but have heard nothing but unequivicol praise for it on the BB. It really does just ram home, as I said before, just how wonderful a Game CtP should have been on release rather than the subject of universal derision by most old CIVer's as it was. These guys, plus Apolyton, have shown those of us who did not just throw the the CD into the bin how wonderful the Game could, and should, have been if only Activision had put in a little more work rather than rush out an incomplete product.

Turn to 'Dog Lover' Don.

Good to hear you are in Slamp. When the final spot has been filled, I agree 5 is enough, I will start things off. Should be within the next couple of days, I hope!

I apologise for the continued level of German Pollution but do ask my neighbours to understand that none of them have the problems associated with such very heavy concentrations of population. This will hopefully be helped by the rapid construction of Security Monitors but the lessening of German Production further will serve little purpose save to delay the construction of Pollution reducing City Improvements. It should also be noted that Germany cannot ignore her defence needs at a time of rapid technological advancement - a Machine Gunner is of little value when confronted by a War Walker!
