quote: Georgia did refuse Russian help, but then proceeded to launch a major operation against the Chechens in the Pankisi Gorge with its own forces. I don't really know what Putin is complaining about. |
Major?
Operation?
This is a farse not operation.
Imagine a situation:
Bad guys, let's say drag dealers or terrorists are working somewhere, let it be LA for Example. Once upon
a time LAPD decide to make "major operation" against them. The cheif of LA police is coming to drug dealers and saying: "Hey guys, tommorow me, and my boys are gonna launch a major operation agains you guys. So, watch out, we are coming". Can you imagine results of such "major operation"?
The same was with this Georgian "major operation". They didn't caught a single terrorist, didn't found a single terrorist hideout, base or ammo storage.
If this is operation, then I am a rocket scientist.
quote: Scheverdnaze hasn't been a Russian lackey, but he certainly isn't pro-Chechen either... |
First of all, he is f*cken traitor. Second, he SHOULD be more freindly with Russia, considering that his country absolutely depend on Russian economy. They don't pay or almost don't pay for our gas, electricity, our oil. Majority of their population work in Russian industry or trade on Russian markets, because it's the only way for them to feed they families. Georgian economy in deep sh*t. Without us they will not surrvive. He should have been more freindly, too bad for him, I guess it's too late or he had last single chance to fix the situation. If our president said that Russia will take necessary measures to defend itself, then next time we will defend ourselves. If Shawarnadze is not with us he is against us. All is simple.
And obiviously he is pro-terrorist. I guess you never saw how he kiss with guys who ordered to ordered destroy 3 Russian buildings and to kill several hundreds of Russian civilians in 1999.
Georgia is third in list of most favorite hideouts for Al-Quida leaders.

What makes the Russians think they'll do any better in Georgia than in Chechnya?
I think the Russian Army hit bottom in 1996 when a Russian division and a Russian battalion fought for 6 hours before anyone realized what was going on.
