These grey areas are the way the game was designed...this is what many have argued in contradiction to your opinion. Integrity lies where?

Simple follow the rules you agree to when you sign up the gray area here was covered.
That is Integrity, any other questions?
The rules are the rules, note it even says it is against the rules to share the bug information.
Nothing personal but anyone trying to justify cheating is prone to cheat again. They obviously lack the gaming skill to play the game fairly and lack INTEGRITY for the game they have chosen to buy and play online with other gamers.
For the record I guess I am just one of those_______ (Fill in the blank)
people that did not know until Quinns informed me of the bug. I asked about it several times under my name and assumed names NOT ONCE did a single player give me a whiff of how to do it.
I did not look for bugs (Ways to cheat my opponent or the game.) I enjoy the game as it is, I enjoy getting better at the game the way it is any game for that matter I like the competition.

Blackice, about the quotes from the gameleague rules etc...Dude, if that were the case, %99 of the players there would be banned.

I think game League Administration have a lot of decision’s to make here.
They could wipe the board clean? But by staying quiet about it is killing the credibility of Game League IMO. Idea two why don't all the people who used this in Game League games admit to which game they used it in and which unassuming rookie they scouped points from? lol
quote:

1. EVERYONE there has tried this on once or twice. Some because they fear their opponents may expand on trade faster, others out of hope that their opponent is unaware of it, and they can take advantage of the situation.
 |
Wrong totally wrong, some of us try to better our strategies really people do this. Isn't that the idea? so what you lose a game then you try to find bugs and cheats to win lmao really heh, why buy the game if you are not up to the task of getting better at it? Taking advantage is of course cheating and shows obvious lack of skill, ability and good sportsmanship and gaming skills. Fear? get better at the game NO FEAR it's a game for **** sake, lol.
quote:

It's all a silly argument really. Give it up people.
 |
What argument there are rules the rules were broken what argument is possible? You must be referring to the peeps trying to justify why they are, were cheating as it is clearly defined as cheating in Game League rules.
As far as "giving it up people" yes they should at best their position is weak and explains more of a lack of character, and integrity rather than why it is ok to cheat. We need a solution to the problem not why it is ok to do it.
Again great we have a bug what does Activision say about it I don't have a dicrect quote but:
quote:

Unfortunately, I don't think Activision is going to make a patch. I think it's really up to the community to do everything.
 |
This is from a very qualified person please take my word for it they know.
There you have it as it stands Game League is dead period at least for ranking purposes. Unless we can come up with a fix. May I suggest we flood Activision asking them to correct this flaw in a game we invested good money for?
Saddam if you could enlighten us on the cheat you were referring to it would be great.

just looked at my game history on GL
last time i beat up newbies was on 26th of september year 2000 it wa a 3 player game and i got 4 points for the win. Since then ive only played the same people all very experienced playes who all used the trick. I dont think i even started using the trick till October 2000.
Also i have played flames and another player 2 on 1 a few times and not lost.
Also you can only get too about 1800 points on Gl beating up newbies after that you lose points for the win.
About the 2 on 1 game i dont really like those settings very much. No gold makes it a very slow game and makes it more boring you have less things to do. Spending money is where half my skill comes from. Im not refering too the trick either i use the money for a lot of other things. No gold also gives those with better land a huge advantage. I like earth world cause it generally makes you further apart.
Bigger map would also be nice but i dont mind.
If gl was too out law the trick i probably wouldnt bother with GL anymore
i only like player a few people. Cause i fall asleep when i thrash people

Hey Paul, understood, then the settings must be compromised, I feel comfortable with that - If you put down settings as you see them, then agreement can be reached -
Paul if you only Play the same people, then how do you know you are that good? Peoples Strategies change from one game to another, evolving improving, those wet behind the ears 6 months ago could kick you into oblivion now - There is nothing I like more than a close fought game, and I enjoy losing as much as winning......
As for a slow game with out the cheat/trick, I don't know how to answer that as I have no basis for comparison, never used it....But I don't consider any of my games slow!

Well said Gavrushka.
Well, I couldn't afford an Internet game, I think. For example, 3 hours online here would cost me over 10$, don't love that. And, interruption is too high. Next, I don't want to be pressed by the time that I have for my turns.
Shamely, we can't rate those Internet games.

Solver, are there any Russian Providers accessible by you in Riga?? My Parents-In-Law, In St Petersburg, now have two providers, one of whom does not charge by the hour I am sure, and the connection is very stable.
I think it is crazy that you essentially have to PAY to moderate this, I just try to imagine what this place would be like if there were no moderators..... I guess a bit like what has happened to GameLeague!

I played Zeratul today Blackice and confirmed what i already knew he uses the trick. He also came up with a few others. Quite a nasty one too sonar boys in 1 turn. So you can effectively use them too see all squares ruins the art of surprise.
little fishery then sonar boy on top. Only costs 150 when it should be 400.
Is this a cheat or just a nasty trick. I think just an annoying trick. Costs you a lot of Pw'w too cover most the map.
So that is every player in at least top 15 who uses the trick. So every one should use it. It makes the game so much better. Me and Dragon played with 100 gold and all wonders for the first time ever, effectively cancelling the trick for both people. Quite slow game different for a change. I got labrinth but didnt help much not enough goods around.
You could see the effect on the graph of the bigger host river. He got an early lead on me. not sure who will win though.
With the trick you can get 20 cities no prob by 2000 bc.
I also came aware of yet another trick that i had never heard of before.
How to find land with a boat with out even having to look. Make sure you ahve a man on the boat, then try to unload the man move arrow around untill it turns green that means there is land there. Havent got to use it yet haven't played any ocean games. This is another trick that actually makes the game better less luck. If you have a **** starting island you can easilly find another one near by with out having to guess and rely on luck.

Gav and quinns or who ever was challening me
What map settings you like
0 ocean land settings is always good then you get all hills and mountains,
That gives you alot too do when it comes too mining
yes on all islands.
about 7 diverse
i dont care about amount of goods too much, less there is the more skill required.
Wet about 4
continent about 4 or 5 more the less hills and mountians there become slightly.
I prefer if there is no gifting tec untill at least 0 ad gigantic map not worry quite so much. I ran into troubles on reg maps in 2 on 1's when they got ahead on tec early when they gifted. That made it a little harder but not too hard.
Had i mentioned that i had played 2 on 1's many times. Ived tried 3 on 1 but got too slow.

CHEATING IN GAMES
Today's games come with intentional cheat codes and third parties create other cheats. This is fine; but a subtler form of cheating is exploiting a game's loopholes. This is also ok since finding and using a game's loopholes is a challenge and often the only way to survive.
But loopholes remove the rest of the game's challenge and its associated personal growth and fun. Sadly, loopless games are hard to make and rare. So, instead of not playing most games, people often just outlaw the loopholes. Seeking mastery, some people also outlaw simple, easy, or degenerate tactics to bring difficult and complex tactics to bear.
So, cheating is actually a continuum and is relative to the observer's ability and intention with the game. This causes disputes in games: the accuser says the accusee cheated. Usually though, they simply differ on what they tacitly outlawed. The accuser thinks the accusee intentionally cheated. Symetrically, the accusee thinks the accuser is only angry that the tactic worked so well. Tensions will spiral if they share their thoughts.
Of course, sometimes a person intentionally cheats for emotional reasons, such as frustration or anger. Subtler is when, hedonistically, vu cheats just to feel the pleasure of winning.
Trying to win causes pleasure to be associated with winning (cathexis), while actually winning fires off that pleasure but lessens the association (inthexis or extinction). When a person wins by cheating, the pleasure association is quickly depleated (athexis) since vu doesn't have to try and the cathexis process is lacking.
Generally, once a game's challenge is gone, a person often uses cheat codes to wring out the last bit of pleasure from the game. This ruins the game for vu since, afterwards, playing the game without cheating is boring. This is actually good since it removes any risidual addictions and provides closure to the game. However, vu shouldn't start out using the cheats.
A designer can assure a game's longevity by making its challenge adapt closely to the player's ability. Vu can assure its adoption by carefully balancing cathexis and inthexis at the beginning of the game. Vu can raise its popularity by making cheat codes explicit and minimizing loopholes.
